The digital photography enthusiasts have looked to flat bed scanners as a way to serve all of their scanning needs in one device. This is all in one scanning device. Technology improvements and the "natural" drop in cost relative to performance have resulted in substantial consumer enthusiasm, which fuels ever more research and development.
The Epson Perfection 4990 Pro' predecessors is the Perfection 4870 Photo. The 4990 Pro has a 4.0DMAX dynamic range, as well as an optical resolution of 600 dpi. Let's see if it proves to be a good film scanner like they say it is. This Epson Scanner is nice looking with round case that comes with metallic grey color. You can also see a strip on top of it, where the sensor is located. You can find the blue light which emits and easy to find that is the sensor. The Epson Perfection 4990 Pro will fit nicely on the top of the desk and it is pretty light as around 15pounds. There will not be many buttons to control except the power switch. Because mostly all the workings are through the software inside.
The area of the scan of Epson Perfection 4990 Pro is at 8x10in, bigger than the other Epson scanners. The software used for the Epson Perfection 4990 Pro are the Lasersoft Imaging SilverFast SE 6.0, which is a lighter version of SilverFast AI. It also makes use of Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 and software for optical character recognition. And every Epson scanner comes with Epson's own scanning software. The software included is the good quality but expect to work with various interfaces because they were designed by different manufacturers. Some features of the Epson scan software can also be found in Silverfast SE which might bring about some confusion when use it for the first time.
But it's very easy to learn to work with the various features of the Epson Perfection 4990 Pro.
The latest result of that progress is Epson's new Perfection 4990 Pro and PHOTO scanner models. Although the particular improvements and added features of this latest iteration of the top of the Perfection line by Epson are not particularly dramatic, the overall result in performance and the experience using this new scanner led to one broad conclusion that is, Doing all scanning with just one machine no longer involves seriously limiting compromises in quality results.
