Years ago, many grand companies realized that having numerous capable employees was not enough to improve the business. It looked like something was not going too well... but what? What was wrong about the companies' organization? They were sure they could do better, but they were confused about what to change and where to make the respective changes.

This is what triggered the idea of customer and employee satisfaction surveys and was implemented by managers throughout the modern society, later being followed by numerous companies, until it became a trivial thing. Nowadays, if you own or run a company that comprises more than 20 workers, it's regarded as bad leadership not to get some feedback from them once in a while. And the ones who believe you are the worst CEO if you don't seek to get reactions from the guys you work with (regardless if they are employees or buyers) are undoubtedly right.

If you live in your own, private world and you don't know exactly what's happening outside it, you will probably come to take the wrong course of action, and make decisions that may turn really unproductive for your business. This is why you should conduct surveys. How do you do it? What is the most carefree method for distributing questionnaires and collecting responses? The answer is obvious: think about it - what's the largest distribution channel in the world? From where do you get your information? How did you find this article? That's right - the Internet! So, the way I see it, the fastest method is creating and distributing an online survey...

Before the Internet, it was actually quite hard to make surveys, due to the fact that the entire process was to be undertaken by mail, and we all know how fast that is, and how secure it is. But after some people realized they could create survey tools and could make a site based on it, things have changed radically. Today, tens of millions of surveys are taken online, and there's nothing to tell that they have found a better way.

So this is why today's institutions are conducting online surveys. In a century where "speed" is the key word, when we always attempt to make things quicker and better, and with hard competition in almost any niche, institutions just can not afford not to make online surveys.

And there are many online tools available. Some are good, a few are really bad, and this is the reason why it is necessary to know which one to use. But this will be the subject of my follow up article. Until then, have a nice day!
