Most everyone has seen outdoor solar lights on a pathway at some point. In fact, there’s a good chance that a half-broken set of plastic ones exist nearby. What many people might not realize are the many different types and uses for outdoor solar lights. Technology and innovative designs have made the use of these lights much more interesting than simple pathway lights.

Solar accent lights can be found that are used for pathway lighting, to outline entrance areas or to enhance any dark area. The solar panel is connected to the light through a cord. The panel is placed in the area where the sun can feed the panel its energy. Unlike electrical water lights, these lights do not have to be installed by a contractor, the homeowner is able to install them on their own.

Outdoor solar lighting is more popular today than ever before, with its popularity continuing to grow as more people become aware of the need to conserve the Earth’s resources and save money. Solar lighting designs have come a long way from the days of plastic stakes that break with the first wind, today; they can be purchased that are meant to last a lifetime.
