People usually tend to have so many reasons or alibis for not owning a pet. It can be that they are too busy or that their home is too small to have a pet. But, you see, if you care for a hamster at home, I’m pretty sure you’re precious pet will not get in the way.

A lot of people now own hamsters because these creatures are cute and very easy to care for. Have you ever seen your friends rush to the pet supply store just to get some hamster supplies? Their smiling faces are enough to convince you that hamsters are great pets. A great way to start is by getting a Russian dwarf hamster. The Russian dwarf hamster is one of the best species you can find and they are fun to have at home.

Russian dwarf hamsters can even be the source of fun and entertainment if you place their cage in an area where you can easily see them while you’re relaxing. If you place a wheel inside their cage, you will surely have a great time in watching them run and run until they get exhausted. You can also put your pet inside the exercise ball and watch the hamster roam around the house.

The popularity of these hamsters has greatly increased over the years. As compared to the Syrian hamster, the Russian hamsters are very friendly and sociable. In fact, you can put a pair of hamsters in a single cage without encountering any problems. However, you need to be aware that the female hamster is more territorial than the males. Because of this, a female hamster may fight with the male especially if she’s pregnant. Your pet may even bite you when she’s not in a good mood.

Why is the Russian dwarf hamsters called as such? Well, this is because the full grown dwarf hamster can only reach 10-12 centimeters in the length. Most hamsters live for 1-2 years, but if you care for them properly, they can live for a longer time. You can easily get your new Russian dwarf hamster from a local pet shop or from a reputable breeder. However, before shopping for the right pet, you need to know some things first.

The Russian dwarf hamsters come in different color combination, but you can also find plain-colored ones. Once you get the hamster, you will also need to purchase a cage, accessories, and supplies. Investing on the most basic supplies and accessories is a must especially when you have a new hamster at home. Preparing a budget can make the purchase possible.

Russian dwarf hamsters make great pets and with their relatively small size, you will need to ensure that they are well cared for. Provide the appropriate home, an exercise wheel and ball, and fresh food and water. When you are a responsible pet owner, the Russian hamsters will also live longer.

Get rid of those second thoughts and buy a new pet hamster now. The Russian dwarf hamster is a great start up choice among the hamster species especially for the novice.
