Every kid loves the carnival, and most adults do, too. There is so much to see and so much to do. The rides are fast and wild. Some foods served at a carnival are better than others, and here are the favorites nationwide.

Cotton Candy

Cotton candy may be the food that people first think of when they think of a carnival. When kids see a cotton candy machine turning, they will run, dragging their parents as well. Many people love cotton candy so much, they get a cotton candy maker in order to make it at home. It is one that cannot be made without having a cotton candy machine. Cotton candy is spun sugar, comes in many colors, and melts in the eater's mouth.

Fried Dough

Fried dough is similar to a doughnut, but it is bigger and flat. It can be filled with just about anything imaginable. Cream fillings and fruit fillings are the most popular. Usually it is sprinkled with powdered sugar, whether it is filled or not. Fried dough is a high fat, high carbohydrate treat, but so delicious.

Potato Wedges

Potato wedges are like french fries but cut differently. Wherever one walks in a carnival, there will be someone munching on a container full of potato wedges. They are heavily salted, greasy and high in carbohydrates. These are something that some people gravitate to during a carnival on a night of fun and frolic.

Fried Pickles

Fried pickles are an American luxury. They cannot be found all over the country, and even where they are regional, not every carnival will have them. They are made of just an ordinary pickle, covered in biscuit batter and deep fried. The outside is a hot biscuit, where the inside will still be as cool as a cucumber. These are popular wherever they are served.

Corndogs

Corndogs are another theme park specialty. The hot dogs dipped in corn batter and deep fried are well know for being served on a stick. One can get all variety of hot dogs and sausages at various stands at a carnival. One can get all the fixings they can imagine, or go with something simple like a chilidog.

Every carnival will have many food options available. Some will be consumed time and time again, like cotton candy. Others may be an acquired taste, like corndogs. Some carnival foods will be a rare treat, like fried pickles. Whatever one chooses to eat at a carnival, it should enhance the whole experience.
