As with all HTC phones, the Hero features an eye-catching design as well as an eye-watering array of features. As the latest Android Smartphone, the HTC Hero is equipped with features and browsing capabilities that few other phones can rival. Then there's the huge 3.2" touchscreen monitor, which brings all of the high definition features to life.
Connectivity
As you'd expect from any high-end smartphone, and this certainly is a high-end smartphone, the HTC Hero features fantastic connectivity. As well the usual internal 3G Internet you'll also benefit from wireless Internet, thanks to the inbuilt wi-fi technology. With Bluetooth also available for local data exchanges, it's got everything the modern consumer needs to keep connected with the world around them.
Media
We come to expect a lot from our phones these days. They represent a complete package of individual elements, including camera, music player and satellite navigation device. Once again, the HTC Hero doesn't disappoint. The 5MP camera offers exceptional quality imaging, with the lens also allowing video to be recorded at a reasonable 15 frames per second.
There's the usual media suite, which includes music and video playing applications. It also comes with a digital compass and full GPS, so you should never find yourself lost when out and about.
Memory
The inbuilt memory may not be all that impressive, around 0.5GB, but the expansion slot for a MicroSD card will allow up to 32GB so you should never have any issues storing all your documents and media. Whilst other leading smartphones offer substantial built-in memory, the HTC Hero cuts out much of the related expense and still affords the opportunity to enjoy a fully portable and transferable data port.
Screen
The HTC Hero features a stunning 3.2 inch TFT-LCD touch screen. With a 320x480 HVGA resolution, it provides fantastic clarity as well as smooth navigation through the plethora of features within the phone. It is the ideal accompaniment to a phone that offers a brilliant array of image-based media and features.
Design
The overall design of the HTC Hero is like nothing that has come before. Whilst on the face of it, the Hero is a conventional tablet style smartphone, almost wholly dominated by the huge screen, in profile it has a surprising - some might say unnecessary - kink. The bottom portion is angled outwards, providing a more ergonomically comfortable way of handling and using the phone. It does at the depth of the phone, you'll notice it in your pocket for instance, this little quirk is very much indicative of the unique way in which HTC approach the design of their phones.
Summary
The HTC Hero is very much a modern smartphone, designed for the modern consumer. As one of the newest devices to be carrying the hugely popular Android platform, it will no doubt garner a lot of interest from technology-minded users. Because of its Google operating system it is also designed with impeccable connectivity and usability in mind; helping to make it a perfect mobile office.
The media and additional features provide a fantastic added extra to what is already a stunning phone. It's competitively priced too, particularly when compared to similar smartphones, so you don't need to shell out vast fortunes on an impractical contract. The HTC Hero has everything you could possibly need, all wrapped up in a neat and aesthetically superior package.
