I received a message from a client the other day who said he had been listening to my recordings whilst flying between LA and Hawaii. Apparently he had spent three of the five hours of his flight whilst relaxing in a comfortable state of hypnosis, whilst at the same time improving upon his mental golf focus.

This gentleman particularly commented on how much he had enjoyed a particular section of visualization which involved imagining flying high in the sky like an eagle. The visualization on that particular track was tailored to fit with suggestions involving winning at golf and associating with a feeling of invincibility - hence soaring high like an eagle and being king of the sky. I could see how my client had enjoyed this visualization more particularly than usual whist he was in actual fact flying high in an airplane.

Most people like the idea of flying. The positive associations with freedom are undeniable. We would love to be able to lose the density of our bodies and to miraculously be able to stretch our arms out and float off into the sky. We in fact try to do this in many ways from flying an airplane to hang gliding, paragliding and so on. Every so often, someone comes up with another gadget which enables to fly in yet another unique way.

Similarly, in our imaginations we think about flying. We might lie in a field and idly watch clouds as they dance their way across the sky and wonder what it would feel like to be able to leap from cloud to cloud. We have images of magic carpets and flying cars stored somewhere in our minds; images which were triggered by movies which we have seen or books which we have read. The recent movie, avatar, piqued our imagination with ideas of flying upon tamed dragons.

To imagine flying high in the sky is something which would seem to have instinctive appeal to we human beings. And yet, when it comes to the actual act of flying in an airplane, our thoughts can be very different. Some people are afraid of flying; others just dislike the waste of time, or the waiting around in airports. We often see articles which promise the reader tips upon how best to pass your time on an airplane, just as this brief article is similarly entitled.

To me, the best tip of all for making good use of your time on an airplane is to do what my client did and to listen to hypnosis mp3s. What are the benefits of this?

  • You get really relaxed and comfortable (despite the seats!)

  • It's easy to get to sleep

  • You can work on your mental focus in golf or anything which you want to improve your thoughts about

  • You can even overcome your fear of flying

This is a really powerful and comfortable way in which to make use of your time whilst flying. Can you think of anything else which has as many benefits?
