Let's talk about a couple of scenarios for people who could be searching for your business or service.

Fewer and fewer people are using the telephone book, more and more are searching online ( even online through their mobile phones) to find and research local business!

Let's discuss a couple of scenarios:

Situation #1: Someone is considering buying a new vehicle, they browse the paper - they see you ad, but they are distracted by all the other advertisements and are not ready to respond that moment, maybe they are just reluctant to speak to a sales person at this point. They leave your ad behind, who knows if you'll ever see them on your showroom floor?

Situation #2: They plop down in front of their computer and use Google to search for a local "Car Dealer" for example they search for "Fort Wayne Car Dealer" - results come up, they visit that website and are able to learn more about that company, the cars they have, the way they do business, they are able to respond multiple ways: call, email, contact form on site.

They make the decision to initiate contact with you, but now they know more about you, your story, and your way of doing business.

You online presence (note I did not just say website, you presence online is much more than a website) helps to build creditability and trust with your prospect. By the time the contact you they are "closer to the buying point".

I'm sure you see the obvious difference this makes. In the first scenario your prospect saw your ad amidst the other 100 things they see in the yellow pages.

In the second scenario your customer has a specific mindset - they set out to search for a specific thing, CAR DEALERS they find you research you, and contact you after they already have confidence in you!

THIS is the type of consumer your business needs to be focusing on. Think about the value of these potential customers. They are literally sitting down at their computers and saying - I want to find a "X" in my local area. If you aren't taking advantage of this opportunity, you are really missing out!
