From the various mural and other paintings which have been preserved to us from the days of the Pharaohs, the nearest approach to the Sacred Cat of Ancient Egypt now existing is the Aby. With the many speculations on the cat's history, Abyssinian kittens are known to be one of the oldest breeds in the feline world.

Although the word Abyssinian was named after Ethiopia, formerly Abyssinia, through cat shows exhibited in England, its introduction to that country and others may have been the result of colonists and merchants stopping in the coast of Indian Ocean and parts of Southeast Asia.

Ruddy. The hair is ticked with shades of brown or black with a vibrant burnt orange.

Red. The coat is rich, warm glowing red, ticked with chocolate-brown where the extreme outer tip to be dark, with red undercoat.

Blue. With its warm blue grey base coat and slate blue ticking.

Fawn. The coat is warm rose-beige, ticked with light cocoa brown, the extreme outer tip to be the darkest, with blush beige undercoat.
