An Esoteric School of Awakening possesses practical knowledge of the laws governing awakening from sleep to consciousness; and it is able to give guidance on working with these laws. These are fine words but how do you recognize that you are in an Esoteric School of Awakening?

The first thing we can say is that an Esoteric School of Awakening is about the deliberate creation of increasingly longer periods of Conscious Presence - to yourself, your daily work, and what/who is about you. It is very clear and definite about conscious presence being the most important thing. Anything else is of subsidiary importance.

An Esoteric School of Awakening emphasizes the efforts to be consciously present in every moment. Of course study and knowledge are important, especially at the beginning. But later, knowledge assumes a subsidiary role, being applied in actual personal efforts.

The fruits of an Esoteric School of Awakening are actual conscious people. There is no other reason for the school to exist. But these people will not necessarily be recognized by anyone as conscious, because their state is internal. This seems to be a cop-out, because anybody can tell you they are conscious and that you cannot see it; but the real test comes when after a time you can ask yourself am I more conscious these days than I used to be? If you are sincere with yourself, you will know the answer. Whatever it is, you will recognize others who are working on themselves like you.

In an Esoteric School of Awakening being is more important than experiences. Anybody can have spiritual experiences. Being is when you can be consciously present to yourself and your situation, and take right action according to your own understanding, in spite of your personal habits and weaknesses, sometimes under conditions of great personal pressure.

An Esoteric School of Awakening continually tests your being – even before you join it. Many tests are already in place and for genuine seekers these are trivial. They are largely tests of determination and sincerity. After you join there will be further tests. None of these are difficult, at least not in the beginning. As time goes on the tests develop in line with your personal development and Being (your ability to deal with them).

An Esoteric School of Awakening deals with timeless objective knowledge. You will not find any new theories or discoveries. This is due to a simple fact – that all Schools of Awakening throughout history are connected; there is no need to ‘re-invent the wheel’.

Finally, an Esoteric School of Awakening is always connected with C-Influence. This is an influence which may not be perceivable to some in the beginning, but continually guides and tests you even when you are alone, often giving you answers in the very moment you need them. However, by the time you recognize C-Influence you will probably have already verified you are in an Esoteric School of Awakening.
