Electricity!

It impacts all of us in virtually everything we do in all aspects of our lives.

But, what do people know, or want to know, about electricity?

The mathematics teacher known as Dr. Del decided to ask the modern oracle, Google.

He went to Google and asked just what kind of keywords are people searching on in their quest to learn about electricity. He discovered several keyword phrases that Google says are quite popular. Some of them are: house electricity, experiments electricity. switch electricity, conductor electricity, electricity flow, circuit electricity, plug electricity, practical electrical, practical electricity, teaching electricity, lessons electricity, practical wiring, installing electricity.

The number of searches per month for these terms ranges from 1,000 to 27,000 according to Google. But also, according to Google, there was another term that really was the 800 pound gorilla champion with 368,000 searches per month. It really amazed Dr.Del. Can you guess what it was?

It was "electricity how". Who would have guessed this term would completely overwhelm all the other search requests? Dr. Del tried to imagine just what these many thousands of people were really searching for. Just what did they want to know? What do you think? Just imagine searching on "electricity how".

So, to try to find out and start some type of communication with all of these searchers, Dr. Del persuaded a company he is affiliated with, QPI, Inc. to put up a website with ‘electricityhow’ in its .com web name (or URL). See the link at the end of this article.

Then Dr. Del began to write a series of essays on some of the various electricity topics Google says people are searching on, particularly the electricity how search request.

It turns out that in addition to being a math teacher, Dr. Del is also very fascinated by and interested in electricity. In one of his essays he actually gives an overview of electricity which discusses the role it may have played in the American Revolution, via Ben Franklin, all the way to the present with the amazing work of physicists like Richard Feynman in the subject called QED, and many interesting characters in between like Faraday, Maxwell, and Tesla.

Electricity is truly mysterious, they all believed. Once one learns about the double slit interference experiment, and Bell’s Theorem, anyone would too. Or, so believes Dr. Del.

Of course, many people just want to know something about practical electricity to help themselves along in everyday life. So, the website also invites people to join an Electricity Friends Club and begin to participate with others in the quest to understand "electricity how". They are also told about various resources, some free and some paid for, that they can use to learn more about practical electricity.

In fact, there is some free information on the electricity how site that can actually save a person’s life. Everyone probably would benefit from reading the essay on the page whose label is Save Your Life.

Dr. Del was recently asked why he inspired this website. His answer was,

"Years ago I taught a workshop for industry on Troubleshooting Op Amps. Op Amps are the workhorse of electrical analog control circuits that control the flow of electricity and voltages in a circuit.

Electricity is both practical and mysterious. I have always been fascinated by what electricity is and how it works. When I learned hundreds of thousands of people apparently are also fascinated, I thought it would be a good idea to bring some interesting information into one repository.

Anyone, who has an interest in electricity, is welcome to participate by leaving comments on any of the many essay pages on this site (you will have to use the site map to find them all) and joining the Electricity Friends Club. It costs nothing to join and there is much information, some practical and some esoteric, that will be shared."
