Party planning is a lot of work, but it can also be a lot of fun. The best thing to do is to sit down and really take the time to write out a list of all of the details that you need to cover before your party arrives. If you take the time to plan your guest list, your décor, your menu, and of course, your cocktails, you can be sure your party will be a huge success.

One of the most important parts of any party planning process is deciding who is going to be on your guest list. Cocktail parties are often centered on conversation and that is something you want to think about when you are creating your list. Choose individuals who are good conversationalists and who will get along well with others. That being said, having a variety of different personality types can also help to infuse the evening with some spark in the conversation department.

A quality cocktail party does not necessarily call for the same décor as say a birthday party. You do not simply want to string up some streamers and balloons and call it a day. Instead, you want to focus on creating an environment of gentle sophistication. This may mean adding some cloth tablecloths, lighting some candles, and having some festive paper plates and napkins. It is better to be simple and clean than to lean into the gaudy side of party planning.

Many parties are quite simply about the food. You want to be sure that you have a menu that will please a variety of taste buds. Choose some very standard items like cheese and crackers and vegetables and dip. By doing this, you can be sure there will be something for everyone. From there you can choose to add a few more unique dishes to your menu that might not appeal to the same broad spectrum, but that is okay. Additionally, you may want to coordinate your menu with the cocktails that you are serving.

No cocktail party is complete without the cocktails! Of course, beer, wine, and traditional cocktails are appropriate, but you may want to think outside of the box just a bit. Edible cocktails are increasingly popular when it comes to party planning. These tasty morsels create a bit of fun that can replace the traditional cocktail. There is great variety in the world of edible cocktails, and truly, the only limitation is your imagination. Be creative in your creation. You can make edible cocktails out of harder liquors like vodka, gin, and rum, but you can also use spirits like champagne to make festive bites.

Cocktail parties do not have to be a headache to plan. Instead, if you take the time to flesh out the details, and add in a few surprises like edible cocktails you will be able to feel confident about what you have planned. Additionally, as your guests enter the party their eyes will delight in everything that you have done for them!

Did you ever think of adding a theme to a cocktail party like "going green"? Then use biodegradable tableware, plates, or hot and cold cups. Themed parties can be fun.
