Women don't want facial hair and we really don't want to grow a beard. Unfortunately many women do grow some hair on their faces. At times it can be one or two strays and for others it could be more.

Not all facial hair looks unsightly. Take your eyebrows for example; they not only serve a purpose (protection and shading) but can sometimes do with a little help in the form of eyebrow shaping.

An obvious but important aspect is that it must be done carefully and that is why you should be aware of your options. Plucking is a simple, practical and cheap way of shaping and highlighting your eyebrows and is definitely the method to use when removing stray hairs. You just stretch the skin, grab the hair with a pair of tweezers and pull against the direction of hair growth.

Shaving is not one of those things women should look forward to, so let us just say, don't!

There are a few alternatives you can use. These would include for longer term results, both lasering and electrolysis. For temporary results you have sugaring, plucking, shaving (although we agreed not to), depilatory creams (but be careful as skin can react negatively to the chemical reaction) and threading.

Another method that many women do use is waxing.

A Few Waxing Tips:

  1. If it is the first time you use wax to remove hair, don't start on the face, but practice on your legs or elsewhere. Your face is much more sensitive.

  2. Use a small amount of wax and spread it out thinly.

  3. Stretch out the skin as you apply the hair as this makes the hair stand out and is easier to be caught by the wax.

  4. For better results, be it on the face or elsewhere, you should pull off the wax in one smooth motion and running it against the direction in which the hair comes out.

  5. Sometimes you will find that not all hairs were removed. instead of re waxing, simply pluck them out - unless the whole process was a complete flop and lots of hairs remain. If this is the case, wait a while and repeat the process allowing the wax to settle and harden.

Eyebrow Waxing:

  • Safety first: Whatever you do make sure the eye is safe from wax.

You need to apply a thin layer of wax as space is limited.

Upper Lip Waxing:

  • Most is common sense, repeating the process you see above, only do it in stages: one for each side.

Waxing removes the hair from below the skin. It is a temporary solution but over a longer period of time than when shaving, trimming or cutting. Hair will regrow and this period will be from three days onwards. In time after repetition the hair follicle will weaken and this means even longer periods between regrowth.
