After taking the time and going to all the expense of installing an outdoor cat enclosure for your cat then it is only natural you will want to make the interior as comfortable and restful as possible.

If the cat house has been structured so it has a large exterior grassed area for your cat to roam around in, then there will most likely be enough room to install some landscape features. This would of course depend on how much you are prepared to spend and whether you want to provide your cat with all the luxuries of home. For example, you could look at installing a rock garden with a fountain and fresh running water along with some shrubs, cat friendly herbs or border plantings.

If you want to give your cat that extra snug feeling of home then you could arrange to have piped music and soft lighting installed. Also, depending on the climatic conditions where you reside, other comfort fixtures that could be installed inside the cats sleeping area are low voltage heated floor pads to make it more comfortable during the cold winter months. Alternatively, for the hot summer months a ceiling fan could be wired into the internal ceiling if necessary.

Decorating a basic cat enclosure can be enjoyable for many cat owners and knowing your cat is safe and entertained in a comfortable environment will give you peace of mind while you are away from the home. For example, a simple ball of wool will often keep a cat amused and entertained when it is left hanging down from the roof or something inside the enclosure.

Another addition that will be very welcome by any cat is a large comfortable cushion as it will provide something soft to curl up on and a place to sleep. Cushions are also relatively cheap and will give your cat enclosure a cosy and comfortable look about it.

If your cat has a favorite toy such as a plastic mouse or soft toy animal then ensure it is placed in the enclosure so it can be amused. Most young kittens also like something to play with such as a small round ball so put one inside the cat house.

Although there are many other items that could be used, a cat scratcher is a must have item for any cat enclosure. Cats like to sharpen their claws on something they can dig into and all that is required for the inside of your enclosure is something like a tree branch or even a piece of wood with a piece of old carpet nailed to it will do.
