Breeding the morphs of leopard gecko started in the year 1991. Leopard gecko fanatics have been bombarded with the choices on what specific color they want their pet to be. Among all of the many options the top favorites are the orange leopard gecko or also called as tangerine and the sunglow. To help you get yourself more familiar about these two breeds let us take a look at their specific characteristics.

By nature, leopard geckos have a background color. The tangerine morph of a leopard gecko is basically just a normal leopard gecko but with a more orange background. This means that the spots on their body are just the same with any other leopard gecko in the desert. Leopard gecko that is categorized as tangerine has an orange colored body. As a matter of fact, a leopard gecko morph that has an orange coloration on their body can be categorized as a tangerine leopard gecko morph. But if the morph has some other additional features, it is categorized under a different exotic name.

The sunglow is the variation of orange on steroids. Another name for sunglow is the Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tail. This gives us a better idea on how complex the advance morphs of leopard geckos are. Therefore, what exactly is a sunglow? To start with, sunglows are categorized under leopard gecko albinos. It can belong to any of the three strains of albino namely: Tremper, Bell, and Rainwater. Another fact about sunglow is that it does not have any pattern. It does not have any spot on its body. However there are times when spots can be present on its head and tail. Because sunglow is an albino, note that its spot will not necessarily be black but should be purplish or light brown. Another characteristic of a sunglow is that it has a "carrot tail". This only means that the orange or the tangerine color spreads towards the tail and the body that at least 15% of their body is covered with an orange color.

Another orange albino is called as the bright bells. These leos are characterized as a leopard gecko which has an intense and vivid deep orange color. Their color is more evident on their body and head. It is common for this leopard gecko morph to have contrast in their color patterns. They may present markings of lavender, maroon, and lime yellow. These markings will make the orange color of the gecko more pronounced. The dorsal stripe that was developed by Albey Scholls is also evident. The brightness of the stripes varies from one gecko to the other. You will only begin to notice the tangerine color of this morph when they reach the weight of about 30-50 grams.

In conclusion, the color of a leopard gecko that has the beautiful orange-and-white tones and do not have a black spots will explain why 'Sunglow' is such an appropriate name for it. It's a Tangerine morph that is taken to a different level!
