The vet said, "Brush your dog's teeth".

That was new to me. I never heard of such a thing. However, that is the modern trend in dental hygiene care; brushing the teeth of your pet.

In addition to cleanliness it prevents gum and other diseases. It is a natural home remedy for cats and dogs that we can do for dental disease prevention.

We brush our teeth to keep our pearls white, clean, and plaque free. Likewise, we do the same for our cats and dogs. Set aside a toothbrush for your pets and brush their teeth daily.

Brushing will keep teeth strong and healthy. Our pets enjoy eating and grooming themselves. We appreciate their fresh breath.

We brush our teeth daily to prevent plaque buildup which will develop into tartar, then later it becomes a gum disease known as gingivitis or worse. Well, the same can happen to our pets. It becomes rather difficult to gum your food. As humans we can arrange for man made dentures, but not for our pets.

As you brush the teeth of your pet pay attention to the condition of their gums. Healthy gums are pink. Sick gums are red, swollen and/or bleeding. Teeth may be loose and your dog will pull away because it is painful. Abscesses may be forming which means infection and at worse bone loss.

Have you ever seen the teeth of your pet turn yellowish? Yellow to brown is the color plaque and you can see the tartar buildup at the gum level. You might possibly see a broken tooth or feel a loose tooth because the gums are pulling away and becoming soft and boggy.

Your pet will also have bad breath, lack of appetite, sleeping more than normal, or a bloody drool. These conditions are indicators of severe oral problems.

If all of these signs have been ignored other diseases will enter the body of your pet.

Simple everyday care with natural products could have prevented the above scenario which will be an expensive vet bill and a trauma to your pet to have these dental problems corrected.

If you are looking for ways to have your cat or dog eat healthy and aid your pet with good hygiene try natural remedies for cats and dogs. Avoid foods high in starch and sugar.

If your dog will munch on a raw carrot this is great as it will help clean their teeth. Broccoli and leafy green vegetables are excellent.
