According to most medical experts, teenagers tend to develop acne at a higher rate compared to adults or to any other age groups. Acne can be on account of genetic and hereditary reasons; in which case the problem is relatively tough to deal with. However, there are many effective natural ways of getting rid of acne. These ways reduce the intensity of acne and prevent any further occurrence.

1. Try to sleep on your right side. Besides making your sleep more refreshing, this practice ensures that you keep your face off of the pillow and freer to breathe during the night. As an added benefit, your heart functions much better as you are not putting pressure on it based on this position of the body during sleep.

2. The most irritating and unsightly thing about acne is the pus and impurities that are trapped in the pore. The juice from a raw (green) papaya will help reduce swelling immediately, and prevent the formation of pus. Using the juice, seed, and skin on your face will remove whiteheads and leave your skin clear and beautiful.

3. You should try to keep a check on the amount of caffeine you take. Caffeine increases the level of stress hormones in the body which, in turn, can result in acne. You should cut down on your carbohydrate and sugar intake. Consume dairy products and red meat sparingly.

4. Wash the face twice a day. Washing alone won't cure acne since it is caused by hormonal changes and bacteria beneath the skin, but keeping the surface free of oil will assist in keeping the pores unclogged. Use a mild cleanser to aid in gentle cleansing.

5. The potassium, sulphur, phosphorus, and protein found in raw potatoes are extremely beneficial for the skin. Raw potatoes have enzymes in the pulp, and also Vitamin C and starch. Grate or shred the pulp of a raw potato and rub it on the skin to cure acne fast - including pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads.

6. Never repeat the use of a pillowcase in 2 days, always change them nightly so get 7 clean ones. Be conscious of how they are folded to ensure you sleep on the unexposed side upon unfolding the pillowcases.

7. Drinking enough water is very important to rid yourself of acne. This is one of the best natural acne remedies. If the body is short of the required amount of water, it leads to dehydration. The skin dries up and dead skin cells clog the pores of the skin. A minimum of two litres of mineral water per day can help to keep the pores free.

8. Choose facial products without oils. Makeup, lotions and sunblock need to be oil free and non-comedogenic so they don't worsen the acne. Keep hands away from your face. It's so tempting to squeeze or pick the pimple away, but this only serves to make the problem worse by driving the bacteria further into the skin. This will lead to permanent scarring, so resisting that urge can go a long way to getting skin clear
