Using Garden Pests Eating Habits to Eradicate Them

All garden pests have their eating habits which can easily be noticed and used to destroy them. This article tells you what to look for if you want to effectively remove them from your plants and how to go about it.

If you want to deal with these enemy pests directly you will need to study their eating habit so that you will know how to direct your attack at them. This is so because the real job you want to do here is to stop them from eating your plants. All plants pest do not feed the same way even though they might be feeding on the same plants, they can be categorized as;

i. Those that eat their way into your plants, they have strong teeth and jaws for munching ceaselessly at plants and really, they are great eaters, just a few of them can finish a whole plant just within hours. They especially love the soft young growing parts of plants because they are easy to eat and sweeter to their taste, insects like caterpillar and grasshopper falls under this category.

ii. Those insects that sucks juices from plants, these are worst pests for plants because they can suck life out of plants without actually destroy the plants body, thus while your plants are still standing and looking healthy, once these insects are present they gradually suck out life out of them because they feed on plants juice. Insects like lice and mosquitoes which are also human enemies fall under this category.

Recognizing these insects at work is a very good way of quickly eradicating them, the nature of havoc they do on plants will tell you which insect is around as well as help you to find solution to the problems they caused. You will see some of the insects lying on the plants as they feed during the day, but some of them do feed in the night, thus they will lie low during the day among the leaves on the ground and feed in the night.

Using chemicals like bordeaux mixture will definitely solve the problems of gnawing insects because they will ingest the chemicals as they feed on plants directly. You can apply this chemical by spraying the plants directly. And if the insects are on the plants the insecticide can kill them directly once it comes in contact with their bodies.

Naturally garden pests prefer to breed on dirty environments where there are decaying and decomposing organic matters. You will need to keep the whole of your garden environment clean as much as you can, to discourage them from breeding. The more you do this the more you make your garden environments unsuitable for them and the less work you will have to do to eradicate them.

Allowing or ignoring the activities of these enemy pests can really spell doom for your gardening plans and future, at the same time you do not need to spend a fortune before you can effectively combat them, just the good knowledge of their feeding and their activities will help you do the job and finish it.
