Every DIY'er or tradesman prides himself on being prepared and being able to take care of anything that comes his way. Whether it be putting up shelves for the pretty girl you've been eyeing off next door, or whipping up a cubby which will be the envy of all the kids in the neighbourhood, there are a few tools you'd never want to be caught without. So whether you are scheming a plan like MacGyver or you want to get the project completed in Military time, you want quality tools that will perform when you need it most. Here are the top five power tools I could never live without.
Cordless Power Drill
The cordless drill has come a long way from the first models which came out, and it has now become the most important part of my toolkit. With the early models struggling for power and battery life the modern day varieties have come a long way. Improvements in battery technology mean that cordless drills have plenty of power, last for hours and can recharge pretty quickly. Depending on your needs, a corded drill may still be required, but the cordless drill offers much more flexibility. Modern day cordless drills are lightweight and are great for doing most projects around the home, like making holes for screws when hanging up pictures, putting together cabinets, and so much more.
Cordless Screw Driver
Another of the power tools I just can't live without is a cordless screw driver. This thing comes in handy all the time. I know you can get by for a little while using the cordless drill, but it just isn't the same as having a cordless screwdriver. Most come with a variety of screw heads, shapes and sizes and you change the bits over quicker than it takes for you to come up with an excuse for why you can't go and visit the mother-in-law. So when the kids finally move out for the first time you'll be able to put the IKEA furniture together in lightning speed. Not just that, but most cordless screw drivers are reversible so when the kids have to move house and you're the first person they call to help with the move, you'll know you have it all under control.
Power Circular Saw
Nothing says man like a power saw, and although there is nothing better than showing off your skills by doing it with the hand saw, there are only so many hours in a day. A good power circular saw is great to have around and it'll help you get the cutting done fast. If your DIY projects require you to cut timber, then this saw is definitely going to come in handy for you.
Angle Grinder
Once again, and angle grinder is right up there on the man scale. Depending on your needs, you may not need it all that often, but just by having it in the shed it'll give you a certain air of confidence. When the right grinding or cutting job comes a long you're right to go. Once again it will depend on your particular needs to choose the best size grinder, and whether you go for the battery, electric or pneumatic type of grinder.
Jig Saw
Last of all, I just can't live without my jig saw. When you want to make your woodwork look like art rather than cheap furniture from the 70's, then a jigsaw is a must have. It helps you make tight intricate cuts with the speed of a Master Chef.
Keep these five necessities in the shed, and you'll be ready to perform like the modern day MacGyver. For more information on how to choose the best tools for you, contact one of our experts at Toolmart, they'll be glad to give you quality advice at a price you can afford.
