It should be made clear that there are many, many beautiful places in Honolulu to have wedding photos taken. This is not a definitive list by any means.

You should also understand that the most important thing about your wedding photos isn’t that you hit the Most Popular backdrops. The primary goal should be that your wedding photos fit your personality and your desires for your Special Day.

That said, here are a few sites that might give you some ideas if you’re looking to do some out and about photo taking as part of your Honolulu, Hawaii wedding –

  1. Waikiki Beach – The beaches in Waikiki are criss-crossed every day by newly married couples. The beach here is justly famous for its beauty and the curve of the sand that goes into Diamond Head one way and beautiful hotels the other, provides a stunning backdrop no matter which direction you go.

Plus it’s easily accessed at a time when you don’t want to trek to far in that beautiful dress. Lastly, it faces the perfect direction to capture that tropical beach sunset you just might want to have in your photo album.

  1. Pali Lookout – A more unusual choice since the wind can blow pretty hard here at times. However, the view of the Windward Side of Oahu is unbeatable. You look down at a huge expanse of green land and blue ocean that’s a highlight for any visit to Honolulu, whether you’re there for a wedding or not.

  2. Ali’iolani Hale – This beautiful building was built in the 1870’s and was originally the seat of the Hawaiian Government. It’s a stunning example of Renaissance revival architecture and is one of the most recognizable buildings in the Islands.

You might also want to have your picture in front of the even more famous statue of King Kamehameha that stands in front. Clothed in gold native Hawaiian garb, King Kamehameha stands with his arm outstretched welcoming all. A great touch for your photos that truly says ‘Hawaii’.

  1. Magic Island – This piece of land juts out into the ocean to serve as the eastern border of Ala Moana Beach. What it offers is not only a beautiful backdrop of ocean and sand, but also a clear view of Diamond Head standing proudly in the distance. There are also boats sailing by all the time as they go in and out of the Ala Wai Docks.

In other words, plenty of great potential for pictures with interesting backdrops and elements. What more could you want?

As we said, this is just a taste of the stunning views and settings for your wedding photography. What matters most is that you get pictures you’re happy with and that truly capture who you are together. That is what goes into a successful wedding photo shoot in Honolulu or anywhere else.
