Why You Need Your Own Prospect List

How many times have you heard someone tell you that the money is in the list? Everyone making money will tell you this, and I mean everyone and they are telling you this for a reason and that is because it is the truth.

Building your own list and taking full control of your online marketing is extremely important if you are going to succeed online. This is not a want to do, or maybe I’ll do this later, this is a MUST do and something you MUST start right now.

Let me tell you show you different scenarios of how this works:

Scenario One—You have no prospect list: You come across a product that you want to sell to make a little money so you spend money and time advertising that product to try and make sales and if you make sales, great and if you don’t, you lose all your money. 999 times out of 1,000, you don’t even make enough money to break even as you are doing a cold sale to people you don’t know and they don’t know you.

This cycle continues for as long as you refuse to build your own prospect list. You find something you want to sell, you pay and spend time on advertising for the product and if you get really-really lucky, you break even once in a while but more often than not, you lose money.

Scenario Two—You have no prospect list that you own: Let’s say you have been with a company for 12 months selling vitamins or whatever and they have supplied you with nice capture pages and pre-written Autoresponder messages that are sent from their system. All you have to do is promote their capture page with your affiliate link and when someone subscribes to get more information, their company Autoresponder does all the follow up. Nice, but only good for the company because if you ever wanted to promote anything else to that list, you can’t because it is not your list. If and when you leave that company, all those prospects are now the property of the company and they can do whatever they want with them. This sucks because it was you who spent the time and money to get those people into the company’s Autoresponder, but it is their Autoresponder and not yours.

All you can do is walk away empty handed…

Scenario Three—You have an Autoresponder and Capture Page System: You have been building your own list with your own Autoresponder and capture page system for at least 3 months and if you have been loyal to your advertising of that capture page, you will have subscribers after 3 months.

Now when you come across a great product you want to sell, all you do is login to your own Autoresponder, click a few buttons and send a Broadcast message to your entire list with your link to the great product. Depending on the size of your list and your rapport you have with your prospects, every sale you make is 100% pure profit and the entire process took you less than 5 minutes.

You continue growing your prospect list and you continue to send helpful information and great products to your prospects as you find them. They continue buying from you; your list continues to grow as does the amount of money you make.

If you never stop growing your prospect list, you will never stop making money.

Many people come online and get involved with a business whether it is MLM, Affiliate marketing, selling download products or whatever and that is usually their first step in working online. The problem with this is they are putting the cart before the horse because if you have nobody to sell to, how can you make any money?

When Google came online they gave everything away for free. There was no advertising at their site, just a plain page with a great search engine and that's it. By giving their service away and not taking advertising, they began to build a following of people who referred others to it and pretty soon, they had millions of people using their service.

Their next step was to monetize their site and that is when they started their PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising and other options.

They have since gotten into email, phones, Google maps, and hundreds of other features that produce money for them. But it all started by giving away their service and in essence building their prospect list.

The rest for Google as they say is history and the founders of Google earn over $9 million dollars per day--Yes the founders alone make that much money. You and I are never going to make that much money online, but you can make money online if you do what is necessary to make it.

Start with your prospect list and never stop building it and while this may take some time, it is imperative that you take this necessary step if you want to succeed online.

Look at your prospect list as the foundation to your home. Your house would fall down if there was a not a solid foundation and when a builder builds a house, they start with the foundation and then everything is built around that.

The same is true for your prospect list because you will build everything around it. Now, I know some people are going to walk away from 12SC and building their list because they will think they can make it online without their own list, or because they need money today and if that is the case, they really need to get off the Internet because they are not going to make money instantly.

You CAN make it online, but you need your prospect list and you need to never stop building it.
