Shaving is a daily ritual that many men do every day of the week using the popular razor and disposable blade method. Nowadays, the manufacture of skin care and shaving preparations is a multi million dollar business for suppliers. Many department stores and skin care suppliers are able to provide consumers with a wide range of effective pre-shave and post-shave treatments that have been especially formulated to help men have a close shave leaving the skin feeling smooth and refreshed.

The following are 8 shaving tips that may help you have a perfect shave –

  1. Before shaving make sure the disposable blade in your razor as a new blade will give a closer shave and not drag on your skin causing small cuts and nicks.

  2. Always wash your face with hot water as this will help remove any grime or surface oils on the skin and soften the face allowing the blade to cut easier.

  3. Rub either a shaving cream or a shaving gel into your face. There are several very good creams and gels on the market that can all do the job required. Consider using an effective anti-irritation shave gel that contains ingredients that cleanse, refresh and moisturize the skin.

  4. Use your razor in slow stroking movements and avoid shaving against the grain to reduce friction and irritation.

5.Use hot water to rinse any gel/cream off the blade after each stroke. This will also help you to see what part of the face that still needs to be shaved.

  1. After the stubble has been shaved away, use your face cloth (again wet with hot water) to wipe any gel/cream residue from your face so that it is nice and clean.

  2. Use an oil-free or alcohol-free facial moisturizer that will help to moisturize the skin. Some of these oil-free products won’t clog pores and many formulas available now contain SPF15 sunscreen ingredients for effective sun protection.

  3. Alternatively, use a soothing aftershave for men or an aftershave balm that will provide your face with a pleasant sensation and lingering fragrance after a close shave.
