Whenever people travel to a country for the first time there is nearly always a sense of excitement and an element of uncertainty involved. If that country speaks a different language, the adventure becomes even more challenging.
There are generally four reasons why people leave the comfort of their own country – vacation, business, education or in search of employment. Heading to another country to become more educated is certainly far from the most common reason. In fact, if anyone is contemplating studying any topic, they are most likely to do it in their own backyard.
However, there are circumstances whereby people need to study in other countries because what they are looking for isn’t on offer in their own country. For example, learning English as a second language is one form of education that encourages many young Asians to head abroad.
In New Zealand in particular, there are thousands of foreigners studying English. Most of them are in Auckland, which is by far the country’s largest and most populated city. Being that it is such a big city means it has more resources from which to call upon. This means you get greater choice and as a result – more quality, when it comes to education and business in general.
Auckland is perhaps one of the most multi-culturally sensitive cities in the world. If you look at the population statistics, you’ll be amazed to learn the percentages of people living in Auckland of other nationalities. This, in itself, gives Auckland a unique charisma and one which is well-known throughout the world.
Studying English as a second language is a no-brainer for people from Korea, China and Japan. The city’s major English learning institute is right in the heart of Auckland’s city centre, which makes everything very accessible. To add to this, you’ll be able to look around the shops in Auckland and realise that you are not alone in a city full of New Zealand Europeans or Maori. A large percentage of people you’ll notice in and around Auckland’s city centre are actually Asian.
Before you commit to studying English in Auckland, or New Zealand for that matter, it’s important that you ask plenty of questions of those offering their educational resources as well those who’ve studies English as a second language in New Zealand as well. One thing is for sure, your English will improve no end.
