Not many know that almost all kinds of persons are inclined to get panic attacks. Most often, the usual causes of panic attacks are work related stress and sometimes unforeseen emergency situations. Though, there are many other ways to trigger a panic attack. They usually happen when a person starts to feel that they are no longer in control of a certain situation or when things do not go as planned.

Obsessive compulsive persons have a high rate of getting panic attacks for the simple reason that they would always want things to go their way. Should an unexpected situation come about, they would not know how to handle the scenario. Hence, the panic attacks.

The same is true for work related panic attacks. These are often seen in offices or companies that have a very high level of competition among their employees. Not to mention the competition between business organizations themselves. This could all pile up and cause an employee to breakdown.

Imagine yourself as a pressure cooker and work as the applied force that is pressure. As your work gets harder and as those quotas have to be met, you start to feel that your comfort zone is getting a little smaller. This anxiety can cause you to be restless and eventually lead to an anxiety attack if you do not remain calm.

The most apparent signs and symptoms of panic attack is that you tend to hyperventilate. Hyperventilation or breathing rapidly will cause your blood to flood your brain with oxygen. This will make you a little light headed if not dizzy. Some folks tend to faint once they are not able to breathe at their normal pace.

You would also feel your blood pressure to slowly increase. This is because of your rapid heartbeat and short rapid breaths. This often gives the sufferer the feeling that he or she is about to get a heart attack. Many cases of suspected heart attacks which are brought to the emergency room are often just a simple panic attack.

A simple treatment of panic attack would be to remain calm. Once you feel that you are about to have an impending episode, it would be wise to take a moment and breathe in and out slowly. This will help keep your heart rate at its normal pace. It will also give you a fresh perspective on things and you can easily catch your bearings then.

There are some people who opt to undergo psychiatric evaluation to seek relief from panic attacks. The evaluator would suggest a series of therapy sessions to deal with whatever issues that may be bothering the patient. If the panic attacks are severe it would be likely that drug therapy may also be prescribed along with the psychiatric therapies.

Still, prevention is better than a cure. Knowing the signs and symptoms of panic attacks will help greatly with how to deal with them when the need arises. A person who is often getting these sorts of attacks is often reminded to stay calm during stressful situations.
