Some people that consider scandals and all kinds of disconcerting images as a way to arrest people’s attention wouldn’t like to admit but the fact is that the media is awash with violence that sometimes is breaking the limits of the allowed. One of the frequently asked questions is about the video games. Many people enjoy in all kinds of games related with virtual killing. End if before there was a person who was killing, now the point is the experience to be more real and closer. That’s why shooting games or sniper games took the form of first person shooter games.

We could not say that there is no violence in the video games, there are numerous games with killing, some of them are simple and childish in some way – you kill aliens, shoot arrows, throw rocks or something, and some of them are really close to the reality, they have real time, lots of blood spreading around… There is violence in the cartoons too, and they are dedicated for children, but the point is that the technology is moving too fast and these appearances are becoming more and more realistic.

Researchers at the Indiana University School of Medicine say that brain scans of kids who played a violent video game showed an increase in emotional arousal – and a corresponding decrease of activity in brain areas involved in self-control, inhibition and attention. But any way the experts explain that having a high degree of violence does not necessary mean anything. Every day we witness violence on TV and very few people are concerned about its affects. They advise the parents to check what their child is playing and to look at the relation between children players and their social interaction, to see if this violence affects players in any way and than to react.

Here are few rules how to avoid the possible overdoing with this entertainment.

Experts suggest to know the rating of the video game that child plays and to monitor child’s media consumption. To have full control, don’t install video game equipment in your child's bedroom and set limits on how often and how long your child is allowed to play video games. From time to time, discus with your children about the contents that they are watching during the day and exchange experiences and knowledge about the games with other parents and everything would be under control.
