There is no secret to weight loss, but it is a subject that has through the ages seemed to fascinate all mankind the world over.

It's a simple matter of burning more calories than you take in. If it were this easy, none of us would have a weight problem.

Weight loss, and people's body image can be a life long struggle for some. We start thinking that we have to do something drastic to get results - diets, pills, eat this cookie, do this/that!!! We all want instant, easy success/ results. Years later we find ourselves chasing the same dream, but sadly we remain with the extra pounds, the companies with our hard-earned $$$ in their pockets! There In truth is no secret to weight loss. Make small changes one day at a time, and slowly but surely those extra pounds will come off, and stay off.

Weight loss 'Blueprint'

To lose one pound of fat, you must burn 3500 calories over and above your daily caloric requirement. That appears to be considerable extra calories, and you wouldn't want to attempt to burn that many In one day.

However, by taking it step by step, you In time will be able to determine how to burn and cut out extra calories.

It is important to clarify that when we lose weight we don't just lose body-fat. When we are on a reduced calorie diet we lose water weight as well as fat. The human body is made up of 65/70 % water weight, with muscle tissue containing 75% water, with 20% Protein and the rest minerals, and body-fat containing 50% water.

The human body does not lose weight like a computer, but instead it loses In ' drips & drabs', a little at a time. Various factors effect weight loss, such as activity levels, health and condition of a person, diet and even stress levels.

Although there are many factors that influence weight loss, the maximum amount of body-fat a person can lose is 2 - 3 lbs of body-fat per week. The reason the human body can't lose more is that it is designed for survival, and this Is why larger (quicker) body-fat loses are not recommended. Furthermore, if you reduce your caloric intake drastically, your brain takes steps to slow your metabolism, in order to conserve calories.

Fast weight loss is as a result of artificial circumstances, such as a sudden change in eating habits, very low caloric food plans. This does not give us time to replace old eating habits with new better eating habits. So although our physical weight may have changed, our mental approach to food remains the same as the ones that resulted in weight gain in the first place.

The key is Mind Set To Fitness, for a whole new mental makeover and hence body.
