Anti Aging Supplements: CoQ10 as an Anti Aging Supplement

As the CEO of a longevity nutrition company, my passion is anti aging supplements. In this article I will be talking about CoQ10.

Co-enzyme Q10, or CoQ10, is a popular over the counter supplement available today. My hope is that this article will explain a little about the supplement. People take it for all sorts of reasons ranging from heart health to proper blood pressure and even as a longevity enhancer. In a healthy person's body, it is an essential part of your body's energy production processes. As a necessary part of aerobic cellular respiration, it takes part in about 95% of energy production in your body. The heart, liver, and brain have among the highest amounts of CoQ10 as they are among the organs that need the most energy.

Levels of CoQ10 naturally decline as we age. This process generally begins at age 20. Thus, declining levels may result in lower energy levels.

Supplementation with CoQ10 can have many beneficial results. Many users report increased energy levels and improved mood. It has been shown to help maintain a healthy cardiovascular system, lower blood pressure, promote longer lifespans, improve gum health, and slow the progression of Parkinson's disease when taken in high doses.

Moreover, a recent meta-analysis has shown that CoQ10 supplementation does lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Lastly, it has even been shown to lessen suffering in migraine patients.

Although there are many elements of health that can be positively impacted by supplementation of CoQ10, we have to wonder, are the effects overblown?

We should always remember that the effects that I mentioned above have not been quantified. Thus, if you have high blood pressure, Co-Q-10 probably will not be enough to get you back down to a healthy level. So you need to remember that the effects are real but not enormous.

For me, this supplement holds interest as a longevity supplement and an anti aging supplement. Thus far, there have been several studies showing that CoQ10 increases lifespan.

As you should always do before taking any supplements, you should consult your doctor. Make sure to let him or her know about any conditions you have or about any medications you are taking.
