What You Need To Know Before You Hire A Lawn Care Company.

Hi, I'm Nick Summers and we will be discussing the subject of lawn care.

I will be talking about many subjects here and in the future.

So lets get started. This is what you need to know before you hire a lawn care company or landscaper.

Firstly, unless the lawn care provider was referred to you by a trusted source, you must get references. If you know nothing about the potential lawn care provider, get addresses of current customers so you can observe for yourself the level of work that is being done. The lawn may look second rate or it could look exceptional, at any rate, you'll see with with your own eyes. Also try to talk to other clients of the lawn care provider so you can find out if they are punctual and orderly. If the lawn care provider does not have any references, or refuses to give you any, then I would say NEXT.

The second subject is "Will you schedule the care as the landscape needs it". Will they be willing to work around the demands of your lawn. The problem is that the need of the lawn is dependent on season and weather. For instance, the grass will grow at a faster rate in the spring season when it is moderately hot and wet, versus the late summer when it is hot and dry. The spring rotation may be every 5 days, and July and August may need a 10 to 14 day rotation. Make sure that they are willing to adjust their schedule.

Here is another subject that may seem obvious. Heavy demand sometimes results in the lawn care company taking short cuts. They are not sharpening the mower blades as often as they need to be. Why is this important? If the blades are not sharp, they will rip the grass rather than evenly cut it. This causes the grass to be under more stress because the grass blades can not heal as quickly. This may not seem important to you, as you may only sharpen your blades once a year, but the lawn care company is mowing the same amount in less than a week. Therefore, to have a healthier lawn, sharp mower blades are a must….or as I say, sharp blades equal healthy blades.

The last thing that we will discuss today is the speed at which the mower moves. Mowing way to fast is very harmful and dangerous. How many times have I seen the lawn care company pull up, drop the trailer gate and watch the dust fly behind the mower. They are mowing the lawn as fast as they possibly can go. I understand that they need to cut as many lawns as possible in a days time, but this method, again, is not the best for your lawn. First of all they could actually be cutting into the earth. The faster they go, the more they bounce. This will leave the lawn in an uneven state.

That concludes todays tips on hiring the right lawn care company.
