It's important to follow all manufacturer recommendations when it comes to both installation and usage of any stair lift system. Although very safe the Acorn stair lift is only as safe as its operator and installer - so act safely, and choose wisely!

With the recent economic, let's call it 'downturn', many people have been trying to save money by doing installations and general home repair work themselves. This is great! Unfortunately, it can go too far - you'd probably let your son clean a cut up and put a bandage on but would you let him replace your hip?

Of course not!

It's well worth the money to hire a professional to install these systems, they're going to make sure the system is properly aligned. This will not just improve safety by giving a smoother ride but it will also improve longevity of the system by reducing wear and tear from unnecessary jerking.

There are so many things to consider to determine just what type of product is right for your unique situation. Is your staircase a straight, or a curved situation? Do you need to flip the seat up, or is there plenty of room to leave it down. What type of safety belt or harness system will you be using? These are things a professional can help you decide, but be sure to do your own research as well!

Properly installing, aligning, and configuring the safety edges is paramount, these act as sensor which will stop the acorn stair lift should any obstructions be detected. They're just about the most vital safety element in the system, arguably as important as the safety belt or harness!

There are some standards that can be used as guides but truly it's best to just hire a professional, I'll mention them here just because my own curiosity drove me to seek them out so I could see that happening again and I don't want you to waste anymore time than needed.
