These are the "traffic killer sins" that you must avoid at all costs if you are serious in getting traffic to your websites.
Sin #1: Dead Links
Dead links are links to your websites which DO NOT work. Have you ever come across a link where no matter how you click it, it doesn't link you to the place which it claims to bring you to? These are what we call "dead links". Dead links do not only irritate your visitors, they also tell your visitors that you are not really interested in what you provide in your website, or you don't quite know what you are doing. So, why would she/he be interested or trust you enough to buy from you?
Sin #2: Overdo Your Websites
There is a saying, "do not reinvent the wheel.". In the context of internet marketing, my advice to you is do not overdo your websites. Do not use unusual colours or put stuff in such a sophisticated manner that your visitors couldn't find it. Make your websites as simple and friendly as possible. Check out some of the websites on Google or Yahoo. See how the websites owners laid out their webpages. What colours do they use for hyperlinks, text, where to put the "add to cart" sign, how many graphics, what font style and size do they use etc.
Sin #3: Spam
Whatever you plan to do to get traffic to your websites, do not spam! Spam means any unsolicited emails. If you email to someone without getting their prior permission, you are "spamming". Spamming may cause you to lose your web hosting account. It will be hard to find another hosting company as well. Further, spamming won't get you the right targeted prospects. So, why waste time on such unmeaningful activities?
Sin #4: Image and Flash, Flash, Flash!
Some love flash but many people just loath flash. It doesn't add anything to the site. It takes lot of time to load and hogs your bandwidth. Save a few exceptions, most people will not go beyond your welcome page if you use flash. Also, search engines can't read flash or graphical image. So, even though your flash or image may say a lot or very good for SEO, it says nothing to the search engine and it won't help in your sites' ranking.
Sin #5: Pop-Ups
Have you been to any of the sites where millions of pop-ups jump at you as soon as the site opens? When you try to close one, another one appears? And it goes on and on until you are "forced" to abandon the website? Do not do this to your website. Pop-ups are just so irritating and terrible. I couldn't imagine why would anyone want to employ this method. To me, it's a sure turn-off. In any event, browsers nowadays automatically block pop-ups. This makes the pop-ups useless anyway. So, don't spend your money or time to get pop-ups. You will soon realize that you are only paying to loss your traffic.
The above is just among the many sins that one may have committed in trying to generate website traffic. If you want to get traffic to your websites without worrying about committing any of the traffic killer sins, log on to http://www.trafficonlineexpert.com.
