This may be a disappointing thing to find out, but most flat TVs do not come with their own brackets while some do. In fact, there are even some brands and models where part of the package is free wall mounting by experienced technicians while others ask for exorbitant fees, and then there are others which just tell the buyers they can mount the Flat TV on their own. Knowing these, you should already be guided as to which brand you should buy.

So, if your flat TV does not come with a mounting bracket and you want to put it up, then you need to buy one separately. Here are some tips on how to find the right one that will fit the TV you had just bought.

• Look at the manual of the TV and check out the mounting guides. There are some models and brands which are only compatible with their own specific mounting brackets, and then there are others which just give the general dimensions. What you need to do is to look at the Video Electronics Standards Association or VESA. If you see the "VESA" after a number, this will tell you how far the holes of the brackets are going to be in terms of millimeters. So if you see VESA 100, then the four holes are 100mm apart and each side of the square is 100mm long. If there are two numbers like 100/200, this means that the frame is rectangular. One side measures 100mm and the other side measure 200mm. the information should be included in the manual, or you can just measure the holes on your own if they information is not included. Most of the mounting brackets should have a VESA affixed to it but if you don’t then do no buy it. Look for the VESA always.

• Now the mounting brackets should also have information on the TV size it can carry, it should also have a maximum weight indication. This is the only way you know if the bracket can safely hold your flat TV or not.

• If you choose swiveling bracket, you still need to go over the guidelines to make sure it can hold the TV.

Once your flat TV is successfully mounted on the wall you can now watch all your favorite shows and movies and if you have a home theater system, then you will experience watching movies at home
