There are a lot of different colleges which offer to earn the associate degrees in various fields. In this article we should mention one of them in which you can earn the associate of applied science degree. This college is called The College of Southern Idaho. This college is situated in the state of Idaho in Twin Falls. This institution is a public college in which you have to study for two years to receive your associate degree. The college offers an associate’s degree in main fields and provides a lot of programs. One of such programs which can be completed is an Associate’s in Science Degree in Horse Management. During this program students are prepared to work in the all aspects of the equine industry and cope with all the work which is needed while taking care of horses. Also it will prepare students to be ready for the management of their own horses. Besides they will be given all the instructions about difficulties in their behavior.

While studying at this college on the department of Horse Management Students will have a lot of courses and subjects. They have to complete several basic classes. Actually they are as follows:

  • The Classes of Fundamentals of Oral Communication (these classes are provided for learning the language which will help students to speak with their animals. There will be given instructions how to speak with them, what to say, in what way and with what intonation)

  • The Classes of English Composition (these classes are studied for learning the English and the right composition of words and sentences)

  • General Math Courses (it is the general course which is required to study general rules and tasks in mathematics)

  • General Social Science Courses (these courses provide the general knowledge in social sciences. Here it is given the basic information about different sciences and their general tasks and investigations)

Actually above mentioned courses are the general ones and to be more skillful and developed in this field you have to be able to attend some more specific courses in the equine industry. There courses will give you more knowledge and you will become more experienced. Some of such classes which students have to complete are as follows:

  • Classes of Equine Nutrition – During these courses students will have an opportunity to be given the information about the anatomy and physiology of horses. This will include the structure of the digestive system of the animals, the abilities of this system, the way in which the system digests and accepts the food. What food is accepted by the system of digestion. Also you will be given the information about different diseases and complications of the digestive system of the horses. Besides you will be taught about the ability of the organism to metabolism.

  • Study of Equine Reproduction – This course will provide the students with the information about the reproductive system of the animals. During this course students will study the reproductive organs of horses, their ability for reproduction. Also they will study their hormone control which guarantees the successful reproductive efficacy. Also you will be informed about various diseases of the reproductive system and the way of treatment which will be needed. Besides there will be given some useful information about the processes of reproductive failure, artificial insemination and embryo transfer which are available for these animals.

  • The Classes of Horse Judging – At these courses students will be offered with the basic information about horse’s behavior. This course will be given for students to teach them how to behave with horses and how to make them confront you. Also after these classes you will know about different breeds of horse’s bases on conformation and various types of performances which the horse can make. These classes are very important for students as they have to know how to make the horses hear you and understand you. Also it should be mentioned that at these courses there are special demands and each student will have to prepare the performance with the horse for the evaluation and the instructor will give a mark to your work.

  • The Classes of Horse Anatomy and Unsoundness – These classes will give the knowledge about basic unsoundnesses in horses. You will be provided with the information how to get to know about the illness of the animal and where can be the center of this disease. To know about this you should study the anatomy of a horse and the structure of the organs. Also you will know about the reasons by which this or that disease was caused. You will know about the location of the unsoundness and will be given the information about all possible treatments of these diseases.

  • Draft Horses Classes – During these classes students will study about all the common knowledge about different breeds of draft horses, the history which tells about the finding of these breeds and their development. Also you will know about the ways of conformation of such horses. Besides you will be given the information about the principles of harnessing and hitching, and you also will be able to know in what way you can manage draft horses. These courses also provide the information about breeding these horses, different showing procedures and the ways of training and foaling. During this course you should also come through such term as a mandatory lab. This means that students will have a laboratory work which consists of students handling, harnessing, hitching, driving, packing, and caring for and managing draft horses.

  • Horsemanship Classes – This course is provided for studying the natural horsemanship. Students are taught how to behave and communicate with horses. During this course students become more skillful in riding horses. Besides this course provides the knowledge how to communicate with horses in a proper way and become their real friend and partner, and at the same time to become a leader for them. During this course students will also learn the basics of proper way of handling, saddling, mounting, and riding a horse.

  • The Classes of Business Aspects of Raising Horses – During these classes should to be attended because there a lot of important things are taught. For example these classes are created to teach students the fundamental statements of business relating to the raising horses. On these courses a lot of theories are taught and they include many information concerning the questions how to provide the production, marketing, accounting, finance, law and ethics. These courses are much desired to be attended as they offer a large baggage of knowledge about the business of raising horses and teach how to make your horse business successful.

  • Equitation Classes – to attend these classes you will be chosen to one of three levels of equitation classes. They are designed according to the abilities and skills of a student in riding. And the students can choose the most convenient for him or her level. The beginning level of equitation class offers the common knowledge in natural horsemanship. During the study on this level you will learn how to saddle, how to mount on the horse, how to ride a horse in a proper way and how to communicate with horses to make them listen to you. The second level is called an intermediate equitation class. During this class you will be given the information about the natural horsemanship skills. This level is available for those who have skills which are completed on the first level, and for those who have already completed it. The third level is called an advanced equitation class. This class is available only for those who are very skillful and experienced in western equitation. During these classes students can develop their skills in advanced training of better horses. Also when you are studying in advanced equitation class you are required to have your own horse. It is very convenient for these classes.

  • English Equitation Classes – These classes are produced for those students who have never been attached to the horses and to the horse riding. Usually such students don’t have any prior experience in the fundamentals of English riding. During these classes students will become more experienced and skillful in such activities as grooming, saddling, bridling, and mounting the horses. But also there are classes for more educated and skillful riders which are called ‘The Intermediate English Equitation’. These classes are offered for those students who have already known the basic knowledge in English equitation. At these classes students have the opportunities to learn about different professional skills of riding. The great emphasis is placed upon riding positions, on developing skills in balancing and different activities which give an opportunity to have control over the horse and figure eights at the trot. Also there are different advanced courses devoted to the studying of riding a horse in a show ring. There you will learn how to teach a horse with different tricks and how to make your show on the ring successful.

So in this article there are given different classes which you can attend to develop and improve your skills in horse riding. It is out of the question that it is only the brief list of these classes. They are more numerous in their number and there are some classes which are more available and interesting for you. All of them can provide you with the program which you need to develop your abilities.
