The recommended indoor relative humidity (percentage of moisture in the air)

level is 35%.

Many homes can have a relative humidity level as low as 7% in the winter.

Pneumococcus, staphylococcus, and streptococcus bacteria die up to 20 times faster at relative humidity between 45% and 55%, than above 70% or below 20%.

One of the most common health issues that plague our society is dehydration. Most of the tissue in the body is composed of water. If it loses the water, the tissue dries up, its elasticity goes, and with it function declines. Besides dry skin, the symptoms of dehydration include chronic joint and muscle pain, raspy throat, sore eyes, and difficulty concentrating. Humidification can protect your investments.

Controlling the amount of moisture in the air is necessary for your family's health. Dry air in your home can make your throat feel dry, and cause or aggravate respiratory ailments. During extremely cold weather, your home loses humidity to the outdoors and may drop to as low as 5% relative humidity. Cold air inside a home heated to 73 degrees can have a relative humidity approaching 6%. By comparison, typical humidity in the Sahara Desert is about 25%. Generally, one does not want to have a home humidity any lower than 30%. Optimal comfort is considered to be achieved at 40-55% humidity. Health Institutions recommend that your home's relative humidity should be kept between 30% and 55% during the winter. Lower levels aggravate skin allergies and respiratory infections, and higher levels increase the spread mold, bacteria and viruses. Dust mites spread when the humidity is above 50%.

Inadequate humidification during cold weather is one of the major causes of respiratory infections. The heating season causes many people to experience repeated attacks of winter colds. Winter is blamed for these problems, but the actual cause is dryness, which effects the membranes of the nose, throat and bronchial tubes. Relative humidity also has a significant effect on controlling the occurrence of airborne infections.

A newly released unique compact steam humidifier Neptronic SKR Series will improve health and comfort while protecting valuable objects and eliminating static electricity in the home.

This element type electric power steam humidifier has the following features:

• Capacities from 4.5–12lb/hr (2-5.5kg/hr) of steam.

• On/off operation, modulation optional.

• Permanent cleanable stainless steel evaporation chamber.

• Self-cleaning elements.

• Siphon drain requires no drain valve or external tap.

• Simple control wiring using pre-assembled cables with telephone jacks.

• Easy to install, operate and maintain

The SKR humidifier is easy to install and provides a simple and reliable operation with the user friendly control package. Steam is produced in a permanent stainless steel chamber which is easily removed and re-installed for rapid servicing. No plastic cylinders to replace, making it more economical to operate and environmentally friendly than the electrode humidifier.

• No expensive plastic cylinders to buy

• Environmentally friendly - no plastic cylinders to throw away

• No more blocked drain solenoid valves

• Drain water tempered to below 14

Features and components found in the patented SK-300 Series "commercial humidifiers" have been incorporated in the Neptronic SKR to provide the most dependable residential power steam humidifier system on the market.

The steam can be supplied into the duct with a dispersion tube or directly into the room with a fan distribution unit (SDU).

The likelihood of sparks with the fan housing is minimized through use of special types of spark resistant construction, depending on the type of protection required. Industry areas such as chemical, pharmaceutical, and various industrial processes have explosive environments that require the equipment to be specially constructed to minimize the risk of gas or dust ignition. Fans are one of the items of industrial equipment that have potential to ignite either gas or dust from either sparks caused by contact of the fan wheel and housing, or because of fan motors with high temperatures, inadequate gas / dust ingress protection, or inadequate construction for prevent spark or flame propagation in to the surrounding atmosphere. AMCA "A" spark resistant construction: Highest degree of spark resistance. Airstream parts are constructed out of non-ferrous materials. Typically, aluminum is the non-ferrous material used, but for certain applications, such as high temp, where aluminum cannot be used, Twin City Fan has the capability to use alternative materials including Monel, Inconel, and Hastelloy. AMCA "B" spark resistant construction: Less protection that AMCA "A" construction, AMCA "B" construction consists of a non-ferrous wheel and non -ferrous rubbing plate around the hole through which the shaft passes. As with AMCA "A" construction, aluminum in usually the non-ferrous material of choice but can be substituted with the alternative materials listed for AMCA "A" construction ventilating.com fanblower.com highpressureblower.net industrialblowerfan.com industrialfanblower.net industrialfanblower.com pressureblower.net northernindustrialsupplycompany.com industrialpressureblower.com tenderall.com chicagoblowercanada.com cbblower.com buffaloblower.com buffalofan.com nis-co.com canadianblower.com olegsystems.com canadablower.com abbblower.com acmefan.net industrialblower.net fansandblowers.net americanblower.net barryfan.com cincinnatifan.net canadafans.com barryfan.net greenheck.net pennbarry.net pennfan.net tcffan.com. AMCA "C" spark resistant construction: Lowest degree of spark resistance. Utilizes only a non-ferrous rubbing plate that is typically constructed of aluminum but can be constructed out of the aforementioned alternative materials when appropriate. In addition to spark resistant construction, motor construction appropriate to the explosive environment must also be considered. UL explosion standards classify explosive environments according to Class, Group, and Division. The class indicates whether 1. Gases, vapors, liquids are present, 2. Dusts are present, 3. Or Fibers and flyings. The Group specifies what types of vapors, dusts, fibers, etc. are present. The Division specifies the frequency of the presence of the hazardous substances. Class, Group, and Division are specified by the client, and Buffalo Blower works closely with our motor manufactures to determine the best motor that conforms to those specifications. Many of our fans are appropriate for explosion proof environments, but due to the interdependence of many factors, each situation must be considered uniquely. Emergency smoke exhaust systems are designed to remove smoke and heat from buildings in the event of a fire. These systems play a crucial role in increasing occupant safety and allowing rescue personnel to safely enter burning buildings. Buffalo Fan offers a full line of smoke and heat fans capable of withstanding a minimum temperature of 500°F for four hours or 1,000°F for 15 minutes. Our inline smoke and heat fans are also available in a vertical roof mount configuration featuring a discharge cap with butterfly dampers and an optional fusible link designed to stay open in the event of a fire.
