Doing a job all by yourself, without seeking the aid of anyone else can be a great feeling. The amount of satisfaction that you can derive from it is unsurpassable. I have always learned to do any work needed with my own two hands without depending on anyone else; hence, I have developed this habit of trying everything from cooking to carpentry all by myself. Last week I felt the need to build a new set of cubicles for my bedroom. The condition of my cubicles was truly deplorable and since I had taken a day off, I was able to finish the task of building these cubicles.
Cubicles are like a semi-private area which is used for different purposes. It does not generally come with a door or window and the cubicle walls come with framed partitions. Often they are fabric-lined which is meant to absorb sound and keep the space inside quiet. Cubicle walls are shaped in such a way that they are connected in partitions in order to create the layout that is needed to fit inside the cubicles. I realized that tailoring the cubicle arrangement would be of great help since then they would meet me requirements and serve my exact purpose.
The first thing that you need to do is to cut the lumber into two lengths, the size of your choice to form each panel frame of the cubicle. In addition to this you need to cut four half-foot lengths which would act as bracing for each foot of each frame. The number of poles which you will cut would depend on your needs. So cut as many poles as you want for your cubicles. You need to sand down rough edges and then round the corners with the help of a sander in order to make the edges smooth.
Take the help of poles in order to form a U shape and position the poles in such a way that they are all flush at one end. You can make use of a power drill and bolts to connect the longer poles to the shorter ones. You need to bolt a block to the exterior side at each corner. Bolt adjacent panels together along the sides of the long poles. Then place the bolts in such a fashion that they are well connected and make the frame stand in an upright position in order to create the cubicle shape and size you need and also keep an opening for a doorway. Lay out the fabric on a clear and even surface and then place the foam pad on top. Let the excess fabric overlap to a hem to about 3 inches. Fold down all edges neatly and glue down with fabric glue. Once you are done with this process, you can go ahead with the styling, decoration and beautification of the cubicle.
