The summer months of June, July and August is usually the season where everyone relaxes and takes the time to enjoy the great outdoors. If your family is as active as mine, chances are you spend most of these days outside, enjoying the long, hot summer days. However, enjoying the summer and the sun’s rays may take a toll on your health and well being. The sun’s bright, hot, harmful rays can pose a host of problems, most notably, skin problems, if you do not take the necessary steps to protect yourself and those close to you.
Exposure to the sunlight is not all bad, quite the contrary, the sun’s rays is an excellent source of Vitamin D which aids in the absorption of calcium. The problem usually starts with an overexposure to the sun with can have some very negative consequences, most notably it can also lead to skin cancer.
So, to avoid spoiling the perfect summer vacation, here are a few simple steps you can take to enjoy the long hot summer days, with no regrets.
• Remember to apply sun block when going out. The higher the sun protection, the better. So, a sun block with an SPF of 25 or higher is best. SPF 30 Sunblock is perfect, its waterproof, PABA free, UVA & UVB protection and available at http://kbimedicalsupplies.com/sunblock-p-617.html
• Sunbathing is alright but don’t do it every day...Don’t overdo it!!!
• Wear a hat. It protects your scalp from the sun’s harmful rays since you can’t get sun block on your scalp.
• Drink lots of cold water. This keeps your core body temperature cool and helps prevent you from overheating. Plus, water is good for the skin!
• Wear sun shades, light shades of clothing because they deflect the sun’s rays and Wear protective clothing like extended sleeves.
So no matter where you are, you must protect yourself from the harmful effects of the sun. un Although the morning sun ray is good and loaded with Vitamin D; it is the mid-day sun up to the the afternoon that is rather harmful.
