Many garden tools are already designed optimally for their individual uses. But you would be surprised at the creativity seen over the years. For instance, fitting guards on garden hoes helps to protect delicate plants while you till the soil around them. The different types of materials used to make tools is increasing too. This has extended the materials used to metal alloys and other composites. However, despite the cheaper materials used, these tools can sometimes be just as expensive as stainless steel tools. Of course, you can't go wrong with gardening tools made with stainless steel.

There are many tools that are used for lawn work, that are not the same as tools used for gardening. Of course those are two separate areas, but there is a bit of overlap with some tools. When you want to plant something in your garden, a garden hoe is a good tool to use to get it ready. You may have a lawn tractor that can be used on your garden with the proper attachments. You could rent one or hire someone to do it for you, as well. An aerating or watering tool can be used as a gardening tool, and even a lawn tool. Once again, you can find tools that will perform quite well for both situations. It is nice to find a tool that will work for more than one thing, depending how well laid out your property is.

There is a very recognizable tool that most gardeners have probably used but maybe do not know the name for it. The three-tined cultivator tool has a short handle, usually, and three pointed tines or claw-looking metal pieces. This tool is incredibly useful for manually turning and loosening soil around already-established plants. The sharpened tips on the ends of the prongs are ideal for breaking up any hard soil. If you can't reach some areas in your garden bed, you can attach a long handle to your tine tool. Exercise a little care when using this tool around the base of your garden plants. You won't want the sharp points to cause damage to the delicate roots beneath the surface.

A garden can definitely benefit from some of the things done in your yard work. A leaf rake is another tool that is good to have, because leaves will certainly blow into your garden during the fall. Not everyone keeps their garden up for the entire year, but let it go during the off season. Anything that is left undone in the fall will have to be done in the spring, when it may be harder to do. To break up the soil in your garden, and keep it clean throughout the year, you will need a leaf rake. The wind can blow leaves, and debris into your garden, so you will want to remove them before that happens. Good quality tools, such as a leaf rake, make gardening much more enjoyable. Garden tools can be divided easily into common tools and specialty tools, such as the ones within this article. The materials used to make your tools should also be a factor in your decision. Keep in mind that tools made of pressed metal welded together may have a shorter life span and may also not perform the way you expect.

High-quality gardening gear is extremely important, still in the event that you would like to build up your own beautiful and productive garden it is also recommended to get a step by step guide which can show you exactly how to do the work.
