Stem cells are cells from an animal or human that are undifferentiated, which means they can transform into the cells of different organs. They are very useful in many therapies as they restore impaired fibres and rejuvenate failing cells through the process of cell division, in which they multiply indefinitely.

Only adult stem cells are used at Angeles hospital’s stem cell therapies and in the majority of cases they are autologous, meaning they come from the patient themselves. This resolves any ethical dilemmas and also means there is very little chance of a patient’s body rejecting the cells.

In Adult autologous stem cell therapy the stem cells usually derive from the patient’s adipose tissue or bone marrow. The extraction of adipose tissue, or fat, is more common as it yields up to ten times more stem cells than bone marrow extraction.

Stem cell therapy can be applied in a variety of treatments including heart conditions such as congestive heart failure and stroke, joint conditions like osteoarthritis and tendon and cartilage repair, eye diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, and autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and asthma. There have also been advancements in cancer treatment utilizing stem cell therapy. Anti-aging treatment using stem cells is becoming increasingly popular and new discoveries are being made in this field all the time.

As adult autologous Stem Cell therapy is a new development in medicine, the verification of credible providers can be problematic. Yet there are resources to validate the scientific credibility of health care providers that patients may be considering.

Angeles Health International operates The Angeles BioHeart Stem Cell Center of Excellence. The hospital’s partner’s Stemedica and the Regenerative Medicine Institute is registered under the Off Shore Stem Cell Clinic Registry. This registry is a part of the International Cellular Medicine Society, or ICMS. The ICMS is a not for profit organization that represents doctors, researchers and patients from more than 35 countries and seeks to aid the development of safe and effective stem cell treatments.

Other memberships include the International Society for Cellular Therapy, which is the leading worldwide forum and resource for advancing and supporting ground-breaking stem cell therapies. It provides a global forum of prominent stem cell therapy experts from 40 countries who encourage education and regulation in all continents.

Another membership is the Transplantation Society, a group that promotes clinical research and science on transplantation. Members must demonstrate previous consistent interest in the transplantation field to join.

Repair Stem Cells.org, or RSCI was established to aid patients in locating stem cell therapy centers with treatment protocols that adhere to strict medical standards. Patients are also advised on finding the best doctors and identifying the treatment centers with the most experience in the field that is relevant to them, for example eye conditions or anti-aging treatment.

As the leading hospital network in Mexico, Angeles Health International offers a variety of stem cell therapies that are performed to the highest standards. A list of all the available treatments can be viewed on their Stem Cell Therapy website.
