The first mistake to avoid is trying to do maintenance on the underside of a riding lawn mower without proper support. Riding lawn mowers and other large pieces of lawn equipment are quite heavy. Many lawn mowers go from 500 lbs and up. When you add in the danger of sharp blades, you can see why securing the mower is so important. With the proper lift, you can secure the front or back wheels into the lift's blocks. Then, you ratchet the mower up into a good position. When you reach the optimal position, the Mojack will lock into position. This secures the mower and keeps you safe in the bargain.

The second mistake is to put off doing routine maintenance until it's too late. Routine maintenance will prevent many major problems from ever occurring. You need to sharpen blades and change the oil on a routine basis. Your mower's owner's manual will likely lay out an ideal schedule for these and other routine maintenance activities. Using the Mojack will make this maintenance go a lot faster. You can elevate the mower quickly and safely to get access where you need it. With one of these jacks, maintenance does not seem like so much of a chore.

The third mistake to avoid is taking on tasks that you cannot handle. Unless you are a qualified small engine mechanic, you should not perform some tasks. Taking a large piece of equipment apart, to access the engine or transmission, can be dangerous without the right tools and equipment. Even with a Mojack, you will be taking on more than you can handle. Leave the major repairs to those who know how to do them. With routine maintenance, you will likely not need to worry about these types of repairs. Nevertheless, when they happen, do not attempt something that might be dangerous.

The final mistake to avoid is being scared. Many people look at a lawn mower with fear. They think doing even routine maintenance is dangerous. If you take proper precautions, there is no real need to fear the equipment. With a Mojack, the mower is secure from falling unexpectedly. With simple tools and a bit of common sense, you can do a good deal of the maintenance yourself as well as minor repairs. An owner's manual and some internet searches will help you get through most lawn mower puzzles with no issues.
