Wedding photography is often last in the couple’s list when planning a wedding but ends up being the most important aspect and also the one that gets all the attention. Perhaps it is motivated by the lack of information that is out there or the perception that photography is simply pressing a button. And they might be correct, however, for high quality and creative photography, it takes true talent and dedication.

The equipment that professional photographers use can be very costly, sometimes going up to $8,000 or more making it more of a business than a regular gig. The learning process is also long so it is not surprise most photographers choose to attend a 4 year college hitting up the books before they can actually touch a camera.

Learning never stops and they continually seek for new ways on how to improve their skills and generate new styles of photography. Every event or wedding becomes a challenge to them and a new opportunity to outdo his or her previous work as their competitiveness always catch up to them.

They always strive for perfection acknowledging that the events they are hired for are very special to the people hosting the event and most likely won’t be repeated. Weddings are exactly that, a moment so special that needs to be remembered though timeless photography.

Wedding photographers come on all shapes and sizes ranging from the affordable photographer to the high end ones. At the affordable level you might encounter someone who cuts corners or is overbooked thus jeopardizing the quality of photography. These situations have to be avoided by doing some good research online and by asking friends and relatives for advice. The high-end photographers on the other hand allow for time and preparation for a single event. This ensures that every detail is counted for and nothing is left to chance.

Photographers considered high-end can very well work alone or work for a photography studio. The ability to offer flexible payments is what makes studios a better choice. Another positive characteristic about studios is that they often have more 5 photographers on staff and that is more power to the couple since they will have more options within one company.

As you can see, wedding photography is more than just pressing on a button, it is considered a type of art, one that can use that artistic characteristic and pour it onto paper.

Richard is a long time photographer in California, and marketer.
