I think it’s time to come out and confess to the world. Sorry Mum, but it’s time everyone knew, I’m a Gamer. I know this may be hard for some of you to believe but it’s in my blood, I’ve been playing games everywhere, on holiday, in my room, heck even on the bus! But it’s also very expensive at times. Having to sell my games can be a nightmare. Who would’ve thought parting with a disc or cartridge could be so hard. But it’s the amount of time you’ve sat in front of a screen adventuring or fighting bad guys, taking a break from the hardships of the real world. All thanks to a disc that you own. But you can always be assured that it’ll give someone else pleasure once you’ve got some money to buy a new game.

So you’ve looked after this disc and case and say the next person who gets it is a little kid and ruins it, leaves it out of the case, throws it around like a rag doll. Eventually it looks like a Chihuahua’s Frisbee, the kids mum manages to sell the game to a store and they don’t check it. Say at this same moment you get a rush of nostalgia and want to play said game again so you go to the same store and buy it, get home pop it in your console and… nothing.

If you’re anything like me you’ll be a little upset if not angry, after many incidents of getting faulty pre-owned games I’ve come to be a bit more selective of were I shop. That’s when I came across a really nifty site called Chillout Games, it’s a UK based Pre-owned games site, which buys and sells a plethora of games over multiple platforms. It’s got a very user-friendly interface in which when selling games to them you just have to input the barcode or name of the game and up pops your game, with four dropdown menus

• Case; here you tell them if the case is good, scruffy or missing altogether

• Inlays; this is the paper cover for the case; again you tell them the condition.

• Manual; this is the instructions; same again is it in good condition?

• Disc; slightly different here you have three options good, scruffy or faulty.

You will then be given a price for your game, repeat this with at least 14 other games with a total price of over £30 and you’ve got yourself a quote! once you’ve sent them off yourself (with postage credit supplied by Chillout Games) or by their Courier, they will get checked by the staff and you will be notified of any changes to your quote immediately.

When buying games from the site it’s just as easy, you type in the game you wish to buy and then you get given prices for every copy of the game they have, and the condition of everything within. When the games arrive, (usually the day after if you order before 2pm) they look brand new having had all store stickers removed, cases cleaned, and discs. You even get them shrink wrapped with a little bit of bubble wrap within the case to avoid any damages.
