Planning Christmas decorations can become a real obsession. Here are some tips to guide the planner along the way.

The first step is to decorate the outside of your home with LED Christmas lights. A great place to start is the walkway. The home owner has three different choices. The first choice is to simply line the walkway with the lights. While this is simple it can be very attractive. The LED lights stay cool, so there is no fire danger. A second alternative is to line the walkway with stakes. These stakes come in a variety of designs from Christmas trees to Santa Clauses. Those lit with LED lights are very attractive particularly at night. The lights come in different colours to accentuate the design. A third alternative is to use mini Christmas trees lit with LED lights. This gives a particularly festive appearance to the walkway. Since the mini trees contain many lights it is also the brightest option and is particularly useful for dark walkways, providing extra lighting for safety.

After the walkway is designed then consider the yard itself. One popular option is Christmas novelties lit with LED Christmas lights. These novelties come in a variety of sizes and are a perfect choice regardless of the size of the yard. A favourite way to decorate some gardens is to run strings of LED lights across the yard. This simple design is quick to install and easy to maintain. The only problem is that when one light goes out the whole string goes out.

Now that the home owner has designed the walkway and the yard look to the buildings on the property. The outside of the home can be decorated with LED Christmas lights. Be careful when putting these lights up. It is always necessary to have more than one person to put up outside lights. Never reach further than you are comfortable with, particularly when on a ladder. Also never stand on the very top of a ladder. Find a different ladder that is tall enough to do the job.

The last step in decorating the outside of your home is to consider other outside areas. If the home has a water fountain it can be beautifully decorated with LED lights. A well coordinated display with many lights is very beautiful. Make sure to use outside extension cords. Also make sure to not use so much power that you consistently throw the electrical breakers. Make sure to not run the extension cords so that they will become cut. Inspect the extension cords on a regular basis.

Decorating the outside of the home for Christmas is a healthy obsession. LED Christmas lights make a great choice. Just remember to follow simple safety rules.
