As ITIL has become a cornerstone in many organizations for managing and improving their IT practices, the need for qualified ITIL Experts has also risen. Like organizations hunt for IT managers, similarly they also look for people who are qualified and who can help in implementing and improving their IT setup. Consultancy firms also look for ITIL Experts to form a part of their team, and help in providing best practice solutions to their clients. There are 5 core books of on this library which are constantly revised and reviewed but very few people actually read them. That's why the scope for qualified ITIL Experts and Masters has increased. Also nearly every organization, large or small is using IT in some form in their business.
There are a number of training organizations that have been accredited with providing ITIL training. Only approved and accredited trainers are authorized to provide ITIL training. To get the necessary qualifications a modular approach has been adopted. The modules focus on different aspects of ITIL best practices. There are four levels of qualifications which are:

ITIL Foundation

ITIL Intermediate Level

ITIL Expert Level

ITIL Master Qualification
This modular structure makes it easier for students to gain qualification in ITIL in a structured manner. ITIL Foundation level introduces students to the key concepts of ITIL. The concepts and terminology used in ITIL Service Lifecycle and its linkages and processes. After successful completion of this level, a student can expect to have grasped the basic concepts of ITIL. The next step is the Intermediate Level, and in this there are several modules from which a student can select. Intermediate Level qualification is an industry recognized qualification.
A student can study more than one module at this level. For those who want to acquire a superior level of ITIL qualification, to gain an understanding of ITIL in its entirety, they can attain an Expert Level qualification. Again at the ITIL Expert Level a variety of modules are offered, and candidates can select what they want to specialize in the IT service management field. The final qualification that a candidate can achieve is the ITIL Master qualification. To apply and get this certification, a candidate must have achieved first achieve the Expert level qualification, and should have worked for at least 5 years in IT management services at a managerial position. This will give some clear understanding about ITIL.
