In learning how to understand and utilise the many skills of any psychic, one important lesson that must be learned is the difference in how information can be provided to any psychic. For many, the notion of seeing the future, or rather future events, is one of great interest to the general public, but for that reason, there tends to be a great deal of miscommunication and misunderstanding in regards to the different methods by which psychics receive this information. Most commonly, there is confusion between premonition and precognition. So, let us look at the two and understand their similarities, but also their fundamental differences.

First of all, the term premonition refers to a specific occurrence, the vision itself, feelings, senses, or general notion about the future, and is not specifically the ability to see the future. Premonitions are the end product, whereas having that ability is the actual skill. That being said, premonitions are not such an exact psychic experience. Most often, there are no incredibly detailed, full visions. Much more often, a premonition is simply that horrible feeling that one gets when they simply know something, but they cannot identify what they know! Add to this the sensation of knowing roughly images, sensations of where, how or individuals, also lends the concept of a premonition to be both at once helpful and entirely unhelpful.

On the other hand, Precognition is an ability in itself, and this ability is also to see the future, however not while awake, unlike premonitions, which can occur while awake. Precognition tends to only occur while sleeping, or in an intense meditative state. During this state, senses and feelings about a future event tend to come forth, but also much more information in regards to the events themselves. Often, precognition can leave the psychic with imprints of images or of the event that can linger and can be helpful in determining the future event.

Other than the fundamental differences in how these two work; one is a daytime event, the other nighttime, and they leave different information – these two are very important and vital abilities for a psychic to pursue. Also, many have experienced premonitions or precognition, even if they do not hone their psychic abilities. These two abilities do give the similar notion of information on the future, so for many psychics who are blessed with either premonitions or precognition, they often utilise this ability to the best they can while helping individuals.

Mind you, a psychic who has premonitions or precognition will not wind up calling you before you ever meet them, or if they do, then the event they have experienced must be very vivid and experienced. The mistaken notion that a psychic should call their client first, or see something coming, is obviously a misinterpretation of the ability. Now that you have the understanding of how these two work, then perhaps when you consult a psychic in the future, you will be able to understand the methods by which they receive information.
