Buying a used boat can be difficult. Deciphering the listing specs is often confusing as to the actual condition and operational rating of the yacht; most selling yacht brokers would prefer to not tell you the particular flaws of a yacht. The motive for this? Many boat sellers take a dim view of their broker indicating anything negative with reference to their boat; the listing is thought to catch the attention of a buyer, not dishearten them. However we feel a bit in a different way. We had rather you know what you are going to have a look at up front; in the end, you will discover the issues upon examination anyway. But when we disclose problems initially, we can validate the selling price of the vessel.
Our rating guide has been created to give you a synopsis of the vessel's overall state as it concerns what you may be required to do to prepare her for cruising. Each vessel is ranked based mostly on the stated condition, existing machinery and/or the selling broker's individual review of yacht. The ranking manual is not to be confused with a ranking given by a marine surveyor to determine worth.
