Walk in Baths, Walk in Showers and Wet Rooms are all great home improvements for the elderly and disabled, making their bathing experience much easier whilst also giving them a little more independence in their own home.

There are many features to Walk in Baths, the most obvious being the easy access door to allow stepping in and out of the bath with no worries. Of course, there is no need to worry about water spilling out while the bath is full as there are anti-leak seals on the door. The baths themselves come in a range of sizes and styles to fit most bathrooms as conveniently as possible for the user. Walk in showers also have a wide range of features. They, too, come in a wide range of sizes and styles to suit the individuals’ bathroom. For example, a shower could be made to fit in an existing bath space. To ease the users’ access, the shower tray is low to the ground, or level to the ground. This is particularly useful for wheelchair access. Some showers are equipped with comfortable seats and grab rails, helping those with less mobility to be able to take a shower when the please, with little or no assistance. A temperature control, also known as thermostatically controlled, shower is extremely useful for regulating the temperature as the water comes out.

A Wet Room is basically a waterproof room with a drainage system in place. It is ideal for any wheelchair user due to the room being extremely accessible; There are no shower trays to get in the way. The floor would be made slip resistant, and are usually custom built to fit the space of the room available. It is a very hygienic option, with easy-clean wall panels which are grout free, meaning no mould can grow. There is a wide choice of wall panels and floor tiles to choose a style to suit the user. Wet Rooms also come with grab bars, and safety seats can be included. However, they can sometimes be a more costly bathing solution.
