When you tour Alaska you’ll see why it’s called the last frontier. Alaska is by far the largest state in the United States. It even dwarfs Texas, with Alaska being almost 2.5 times bigger. Anchorage
With six mountain ranges in clear view, Anchorage is tucked neatly between mountains and sea. Almost half of the state’s residents call this spot home. Known as the city of flowers, city streets are festooned with flowers in baskets and beds. You’ll find some of the freshest and most expertly prepared seafood in the world, be it oysters, king crab, halibut or wild salmon. Make sure that when you tour Alaska, you take in the spectacular panoramic views of Anchorage and the surrounding wilderness from atop nearby Flattop Mountain.

Denali National Park and Preserve
From boreal forest to alpine tundra and across its many waters, Denali National Park and Preserve is a place of primitive wonder. Make this a part of your itinerary when you tour Alaska. Within its six million acre expanse you’ll find grizzly bear, dall sheep, caribou, moose, snowshoe hare, tundra swans and golden eagles in number. The view of 20,320 foot tall Mount Mckinley will take your breath away. Choose a day-trip by bus, or do an extended stay in the backcountry. Denali can be as tame or as primitive as you desire.

Girdwood
Visit the world’s northernmost old growth rainforest. Hike a segment of the Iditarod trail. Ski or snowboard in winter. Enjoy the Girdwood Forest Fair, beluga whales, dall sheep and eagles in summer.

Barrow
The United States northernmost city is a rugged and historic treasure trove. For more than 1,000 years native Inupiat Eskimos have lived here. The Inupiat Heritage Center strives to convey the Inupiat story to those who tour Alaska. Witness snowy owls, king eiders or possibly a mass migration of Ross’s gulls. Stand along the edge of the Arctic Ocean. Stop for lunch at 19th century Brower’s Cafe with its distinctive whale's jawbone arch. No place on earth is like Barrow.

Juneau
If you want an authentic Alaskan experience while you tour Alaska, spend some time in Juneau. See humpback whales and orcas. Experience Juneau's icefields, including Mendenhall glacier which is a massive moving piece of ice around half a mile wide. Fishing here is incredible, but if you’d prefer you can kayak, hike or zip-line instead.
