The DKNY Be Delicious perfume line was developed by the legendary American fashion designer Donna Karan. Donna Karan modeled her perfumes, and her fashion brand following that duality, and co-existing characteristics that comprise New York City. Donna Karan is a born and bred New Yorker, but still lives there to this day. She started her career training to be a fashion designer on the Parsons School of Design. She then began her career within the tutelage of the Anne Klein fashion house. For several years, Anne Klein became a strong, American fashion brand. Donna worked her way up, and became one of the head designers of Anne Klein in under a decade. In the mid 1980s, she left Anne Klein to begin her own fashion house brand, Donna Karan New York.

During the formative years of Donna Karan NY, Donna decided that she wanted her brand to appeal to all of New York, and to celebrate that parallel characteristic of New Yorkers. For instance, while the big apple is the epitome of sophisticated, glamorous, wealth, and chic, you have the side of New York that is the epitome of hip, streetwise, gritty, earthy, and blue collar. To this end, she split her merchandise under two divisions. You have the Donna Karan New York division which is more upscale. Then, you have the DKNY division that is more economically priced, which attracts hip, and the younger generation. She used this strategy when she created her line of perfumes.

For example, you have the DKNY perfume. It features notes that are sophisticated, mature, and incredibly American classic. But where Donna has found wild success, is with her DKNY Be Delicious perfume line. The whole line is a celebration of New York in the springtime for any everyday person. The design of the perfume bottles are even designed to resemble shiny round apples, as New York is referred to as the "Big Apple". The first incarnation of Be Delicious smells like fresh green apples, with classic crisp floral notes. Donna re-mixed the formulation with a special edition version of Be Delicious that featured red apple notes, and dark berry bottom notes. She then created a Be Delicious version that has the scent of fresh white and pink apple blossoms, with slight citrus notes. There is also a night time version which is very rich in heady, musky, sensual oils for nighttime seduction.

The purchase price points are extremely reasonable, and these perfumes can be found online. The DKNY perfumes also boast a variety of men's colognes for the man in one's life too.
