My Heart Stopped Beating – Survivor by Chamed

One of the latest and unique among survivor books that have been written by debutant author Chamed and translated in to English by Beniamino Soressi, My Heart Stopped Beating- Survivor is a heartbreaking autobiographical novel.

Written in the background of a mental asylum and an adaptive family in Italy, the story reveals some horrifying and bewildering crimes that occurred in the asylum about three decades ago. Few books in the past have exposed such bizarre and unbelievable incidents and heinous crimes taking place depicting illness, despair, kindness and hatred, healing and romance, all in one.

The author Chamed lives in Tuscany and works abroad most of the times as a painter on canvas and porcelain. Some of her works have been displayed in art exhibitions in Italy, France, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, and Portugal.

My heart stopped beating has already been through with its first edition and the second revised edition came up in August 2011.

The book has received good reviews from most of the critiques though there are a couple of negative reviews as well. But majority of the critiques liked the book and the fact that the first edition is already sold out is testimonial to its popularity.

For most; the story strikes and leaves its mark and no one reading the book could fail to be profoundly moved considering the serious dangers that innocent people face in the mental health institutions those fail to properly take care to prevent patient abuses.

One of the real page turner books it also shows how justice can fail to be served in our modern society due to absence of adequate protection of the interests of minor surviving orphans. At the same time readers will have great inspiration about the courage of human spirits and capability of love to defeat evil. That is a potent message that the book has for the readers; the supremacy of love and good over hatred and evil.

It is also one of the survivor books that was originally written in Italian and was then translated in English and belongs to genre of autobiographical fictions. However the uniqueness of the book is that is story is fascinating that makes it one of the page turner books and once you start it, you may not stop before finishing the book.

And that is the success of the book and the author.
