Eco-Drive Watches by Citizen

The Citizen Eco-Drive Watch BL5250-02L Perpetual Calendar Chronograph includes a fine metal case and lovely cyan dial. The genuine leather strap features attractive bright white contrast sewing and buckle closure. The timepiece features a one-twentieth second chronograph. Added perks include an inner calendar that automatically changes to the approved date in addition to leap years up until the year 2100. Moving the independent hour hand makes changing time zones easy. This timepiece supports a light-powered Eco-Drive Caliber E812 functional movement. Obviously, it can charge up in natural sunlight or home light.

A History of Citizen Watches

Throughout seventy-five years Citizen has expanded its business throughout the world and has achieved recognition as a global brand. The past twenty-five year period has coincided with their dramatic rise to its current position as the world’s finest watchmaker, a distinction Citizen has held every year since 1986.

Citizen was established in 1924. The original family picked the name Citizen to make it interesting to people worldwide and very soon adopted the company’s brand, Citizen Watch Company.

Recently, Citizen has staked out a new position as the leader in timekeeping with its Eco-Drive chronographs that are light charged. With variations ranging from luxury models to casual models to professional diver watches, Citizen Eco-Drive operates effortlessly in any kind of natural or artificial light for a lifetime of use. Charged by light, this chronograph never requires a battery.

Beyond size, Citizen is also acknowledged as a worldwide leader in watch innovation. From the world’s smallest LCD timepiece to the first voice recognition timepiece and the world’s first professional dive watch with an electronic depth sensor, the company’s history of workmanship is unmatched.

The glowing hands are a lovely contrast to the deep blue face, with the Citizen imprimatur clearly marked. The numbers on the dial are also apparent, but the smaller dials and the date overlap the 2, 4, and 10.

The Eco-Drive models contain a battery in them that is powered by any proximate light so battery changes are unneeded. The perpetual date function automatically changes following the original setting, and it incorporates dual time zones.

The strap finish is a provocative deep earth color, with embossed texture resembling animal hide. I have bought many fine watches, but the Citizen Eco-Drive Watch, especially the BL5250-02L Perpetual Calendar Chronograph, is a fine decision and will be a family treasure for a thoughtful purchaser.
