Nowadays, it is very surprising that we see funny advertisements almost everywhere; it’s on billboards, television, magazines, and on the internet. While the world today is facing globalization and the translation industry is expanding rapidly, there are plenty of professional people who are trying to engage in the translation business even without expertise. Hence, choosing a translator for the right language translation area is crucial to ensure the quality and accuracy of the translation product.
There may be no formula in order to get an accurate translation product; however there are some parameters that will help the clients and translators to ensure the accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness of their translations.
Understanding the culture of your audience is the key when translating advertising texts. For some instances, there may be some words that are actually translated correctly but may as well imply a double meaning in the target language that can affect the entire reaction of the audience. Thus, it is necessary that a translator should not be only expert in persuading the audience about the products but should also be well-versed in the target language.
But, how can we recognize a good marketing language translation?
When marketing and advertising content communications are translated into a different language, it is important to continue the whole image and content of the original source from the tone and writing style. However, it should be noted that there are some colours and symbols that have different connotations between languages. Thus, it is necessary that a marketing language translator has linguistic proficiency and knows the cultural nuances between languages. From that sense, people can easily understand the significance of the advertisement that can obviously persuade the audience to engage about the product and the services.
Inferior quality translation, even it it is a so-called certified translation, not only has the potential to offend a culture and its values, but may be even worse. However, if your translation product is just correct and effective, you will have no worries and for sure the effectiveness of the translation product is going to be enormous not only to the translator but also to the client’s business as well.
